Before I starting seeing my LLMD I had an MRI due to some of my syptoms (intense headaches, memory problems, etc.)
On the MRI they found 12 white matter lesions. What they call them is "areas of high signal intensity". In the report the radiologist pretty much said he didn't know what they were but that they could be from something vascular, a demyelating disease (such as MS), or inflammatory conditions like Lyme Disease.
I went to see a nuerologist and she said the lesions did not resemble the typical MS pattern and she was pretty much convinced that they were not MS.
I had a million blood tests for vascular diseases and the only single thing that came back positive was my ANA (which tests for autoimmune diseases.. such as MS)... but again, my nuero said it WASN'T MS.
So basically, all the doctors just forgot about me and I am a 24 year old left with 12 lesions in my brain that no one apparently knows what they are.
My question is.. is there a good possibility that these could be from the Lyme? I would really like to think that they're from Lyme and that they will go away... or at least not progress.. with treatment.
Do you think I should have a follow up MRI after starting treatment to see if the lesions have changed? And should I expect them to change after starting treatment?
This whole thing has me really freaked out and I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks so much!

Ask your LLMD. My guess is that you would wait at least until after 6 months of being on treatment, maybe even an year before repeating the MRI.
When did your treatment begin?

Hi Laura,
Yes, and yes in answer to your questions. Do a search here under medical, and you can read about other's experiences with this issue. Some have lesions resolve or diminish during and after treatment for lyme.
