I have a new symptom and wondering if Lyme is rearing it's ugly head.
I have really bad pain in my ear and jaw. It moves around and makes it really difficult to eat. I also feel pressure and a sensation of wetness in that ear, although I don't have any drainage.
I've been to the doctor (not my LLMD - he is in another town) twice. No signs of ear infection and it doesn't seem to fit the profile for TMJ.
Anyone with similar complaints? Any suggestions for treatment would be appreciated Posted by Starfall1969 (Member # 17353) on :
I get similar symptoms but have never figured it out either.
I just posted that today I feel almost like someone is pouring cold water into my ear and it's draining down into my chest--very odd feeling.
I also get a lot of the jaw pain. And mine will often crack, sometimes so loud it sounds like a gunshot to me. I can't believe no one else can hear that!
I just keep swallowing Benadryl hoping that if there's any fluuid that will take care of it. Doesn't do much though.

ear and jaw pain are pretty common with lyme.
no one really knows what is going on but some think the pain is worse when you are herxing and killing bugs there
a month ago i had ear pain so bad i needed vicoden-i hardly ever take vicoden cuz it doesn't seem to touch my lyme pain
the primary said it was an ear infect but 4 abx didn't work and i ended up having a problem with one of the abx so all the copays and er visit etc ened up costing me over 300 out of packet
he finally sends me to ent cuz infection wasn't getting better and enet said NO INFECTION!!!
the primary was very new and young-but i am still out 300.
the ent said it is possible the cranial nerve was infected with lyme and causing pain
i also told him about swallowing and gagging problem and he said the same. crainial nerve.
he isn't llmd but said they oftern see these symptoms and don't know what the answer is
star-i responded to your other post
i don't have an answer-just info-my earpain is gone now-but it has been a month

It was one of my first symptoms. Do you have pain in any other joints?
Mine turned out to be RA.
The thing that stopped the jaw pain was removing the last 3 of my amalgam fillings.
Also, since diagnosis 3 yrs ago, diet, supplement and treatment all revolve around detox. In other words, I eat a detoxing diet, I supplement with detoxing herbs and I take pharmacuticals designed to help me detox.
Even if RA or mercury toxicity are not causing your jaw and ear pain, inflammation is. Getting rid of inflammation in your body (detoxing destroys inflammation) will resolve a lot of your symptoms. You will still need to tackle the bugs but bugs, drugs, bad diet all contribute to inflammation.
If you have other joint involvement, ask the doctor to rule out rheumatoid arthritis. And don't worry. RA is not a separate disease. It is not a disease at all. It is a disorder labeled RA. Cause unknown.
But, Lyme is a huge cause of RA.

Amanda This sounds similar to my experience. It's in both ears for me though. Do you have any ringing in the ear too?
