He guesstimated I have had lyme for about 3 years. He told me not to bother getting the kisd tested especially since they are not showing symptoms. However, I think I will once I get some cash rolling in again.
He started me on 200 mg of doxy orally then bumping me up to 400 mg in 4 weeks. I questioned the doasge and he said he wanted to start me off slowly and also gave me some nistatin.
He said that once I have been on orals for awhile he will start iv treatment. Just as I suspected, Chronic neuro lyme.
We both are suspcious for co infections. I personally do not have the money (who really does?) to get tested for it. Would lab corp or quest test for it? I know that those labs are covered under my plan.
So, its a harsh reality now. However, all I can do is my best to start this long road to recovery. He informed me it will take years. Years on treatment is better than years progressivly getting worse though.
Any thoughts or suggestions ladies and gentlemen?

Starting treatment is really the hardest part for me. When I finally got to see a lyme professional and started treatment my brain wanted to say, "you're being treated, you should feel better now" but I've actually felt worse since starting.
Luckily for me I don't have many signs of Neurolyme so I may recover a little quicker. My doc says we probably caught it before it went deep into the nervous system. Best of Luck to you.

Jaimie I'm sooo happy that you are getting treatment now. However, get prepared for the herxing!
As far as the coinfection testing, I'm not sure if Lapcorp or Quest do that. My coinfection testing was done at Igenex and Clongen and it was pretty expensive Posted by sutherngrl (Member # 16270) on :
Glad you are getting treatment!
Not sure how neccessary co-infection testing is, if your doctor is willing to treat them based on clinical presentation.
Take it one step at a time! And learn to be very patient!

Congrats Jamie, it's not unreasonable to start doxy at a smaller dose and dose up. It didn't take me a month to get to 400 mg but I also don't see why we have to punish our bodies feeling really horrendous very quickly.

Quest does a good "Bartonella Anti-Body panel" that is actually better than most at picking up on Bartonella.
