I have been treating lyme for 1.5 yrs, mostly doing IM bicillin shots. Now, I have had 2 weeks abx for h. pylori, and now I have e.coli via culture taken in pelvic area. I also had an endoscopy. when I took the abx for the h. pylori, I felt worse, not better. When I stopped the abx, and watched my diet, and took mistica and pepto, my stomach improved. Now, I am on day 1.5 of e.coli treatment, using augmentin, which is amoxy, the same thing I used for h. pylori. I am supposed to take abx for 7 days, but I am not really improving much on day 1.5. So, am I resistant, is it the lyme causing this, is it side effects of abx causing more GI issues? when they took the culture, didn't they test against abx to see which works? IF I took amoxy for h. pylori (and now the endoscopy says I am negative for it), then why didn't it kill the e.coli? Weird.

There are so many things to point out. Most lyme patients treat with 2 types of antiboitics at first, until they feel better, which could be years.
Next, there is a "herx" reaction that occurs when you take antiobitics and it makes you feel "worse" before better!! As the bacteria die, it releases toxins into the blood stream making you feel like crap!!
A good diet is important (even though I can't follow it You do want your gut to be nice and clean. I take 2 proboitics while I am on antobiotics to keep my gut clean.
Anyway, depending on how long you have lyme, it make take years on antiboitics to get to where you were.

You do want your gut to be nice and clean. I take 2 proboitics while I am on antobiotics to keep my gut clean.
