I have an 18 yr old son - about 2 years ago he had Lyme (Bell's Palsy) and was given a standard 3 week treatment (I think it was ceftriamine).
Since I've been diagnosed, I have concerns for him and am wondering if having him tested with the Igenex test would confirm (or invalidate) a current infection for sure (or - are you more lilkely to show positive after having had Lyme).
He has no symptoms he complains of - but I think now that Lyme is fairly subtle starting out and you've have to be really tuned in and looking for it to know.
I spoke to his pediatrician about this request (and in the meantime set up an appt with my LLMD) but long and short of it - that re-testing once you've had lyme won't tell you anything -
although it was obvious he was not supportive of the idea of relapse ("post-lyme syndrome" and "there's the accepted treatment backed by scientific evidence - and then there's these fringe groups who think you need longer treatment".)

pod, i'm confused ... your subject says one thing but when i was reading it sounded like you were telling us it WOULD not effect a 2nd test.

I wouldn't repeat the WB unless my LLMD made me.
With a positive history of Lyme and
Inadequate treatment time/duration.
You may always keep antibodies to Lyme in your system
Even while being symptom free.
Hugs,
Geneal
