My 4 year old just started Rifampin yesterday and tonight had a 101 fever. I'm not sure if it's related, but I'm thinking it is.

Has this happened to any of you?

Thanks,

My daughter had fevers all along before we knew she had bartonella. You do get fevers with bartonella, not sure about babesia.

Not sure of course, but a mild fever after 24 hours sounds like his/her body may be reacting to systemic Lyme borrelia die-off, i.e: a herx.

Any babesia can cause fever as well, though it's Usually more severe, accompanied by 'drenching sweats'.

Thank you all so much! I am so, so hopeful to get my sweet son back and really think this is a good sign too.

My son's fever this morning was down to 100 and actually he had one of the best days in quite awhile... Also, tonight no fever.

I hesitate to say this, but I really think the Rifampin is already helping the bart symptoms, and this is only the third day on it! My child was more calm and happy during the day than he has been in months.

He didn't make the terrible grunts and mean faces that have become a part of his day. He didn't start kicking things and saying, "I DON'T FEEL WELL!"

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the Rifampin will do the trick.
