I finally got the report from my recent PET Scan and in addition to finding arthritis in my left shoulder it also stated: "Increased areas of uptake in lumbar spine and pelvis consistant with red marrow reconversion and increased hematopoesis...recommended further testing/scans"
I'm hoping someone else has experienced problems with bone marrow as a result of Lyme or Coinfections. Anyone???

I don't know if this is related or not, but on my C-Spine MRI it talked about marked abnormal bone marrow signal. I have problems in that area with nerve impingement and stenosis also.
It went on to say that it was more likely a degenerative issue rather than infectious...but since I also have brain lesions, I tend to think that it is from the lyme in my CSF!
Maybe someone else will have similar findings with a PET scan.

I seem to remember words to this effect, or very similar, in posts from people who had babesiosis, as a coinfection. The babesia can destroy the red blood cells, and also effect bone marrow, if I recall correctly.
I'm not saying you have babesiosis necessarily, but these findings came up for people who had it.
I have also read that Lyme can cause things like Lymphoma, so it's hard to rule Lyme out here as well.
I would recommend adding babesia to the thread title, and also searching Medical forum for bone marrow in the search field:
Thanks soonermom and nenet for the responses and info. I will definitely search Medical Questions for past posts relating to this topic!

Is this something that my LLMD should be able to handle or should I schedule an appt with a hematologist? I'm just so tired and confused....it seems like some new symptom or health problem crops up everyday! I'm only 39 and I'm beginning to feel 90
