I usually don't have the energy to spend much time on here, but I'm wondering if others have experienced this...

I started taking Cipro 3 weeks ago to begin treating Bartonella. On the second day of Cipro, I experienced a very strange, new symptom:

Severe, tearing, sharp, stabbing pain in my upper left abdomen and chest - the kind of pain that takes your breath away and stops you in your tracks. Sort of tucked right under my sternum and under my left rib. The pain would come and go - usually related to breathing or movement, but sometimes happened on its own. Gently pressing on my abdomen would make the pain much worse.

Anyway, this episode only lasted a day. A week later, it came back, again only lasting a day. Then, 5 days later, it shows up again. And then the past two days I've had it.

It's not quite awful enough to send me to the ER and I have an appointment with my LLMD next week, so I'll bring it up then. But I am curious if anyone else has this.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I see that you haven't had a response. From what I have gathered, based on rushing my children to the ER when they have that kind of pain, is it's gas.

I think Cipro can do that to ya. You can call the doc just to double check, but I'm guessing that's what it is.

Try to keep things moving.

Before my lyme diagnosis and before I was on any treatment, I had something very similar to what you are discussing.

My PCP at the time said there isn't really anything there, but after feeling around, he said he thought I had a hernia.

At the time, I had so many other things going wrong and this took a back seat. As I was going through treatment, I do recall it flaring up something terrible.

I just don't recall which medication I was on but have been on Cipro in the past. I will still get a twinge there every now and then, but nothing like what it use to be.

Hopefully you will be able to get to the root of this problem. Do let us know if you find out, ok?

Cathy
