My daughter has suffered with this most of her life.

Since junior high, she has to wear jackets (even in the blazing Arizona sun) to cover the sweat that soaks down to her waist. She only wears black or white.

She can't touch anything with her hands because they are drenched. She has to do her homework with a paper towel wadded up in her hand, and one on the table.

She walks around the house with paper towels folded under her armpits. She goes through five rolls a week.

Is this related to the disease? There is a surgery to permanently correct this, but I only want that to be last resort.

Ideas? She's tried EVERY clinical and Rx antipersperant. She's tried pills. LLMD won't do anything because he wants her to sweat.

But, this is too much of a good thing.

This was my first symptom of lyme that lasted almost a year before other symptoms burst out of no where. I was a teen at the time as well.

I still have it some but I dont drench my shirts any more.

My daughter has been on abx for three years...how long for you?

I've had bed soaking sweats but nothing to the degree you are talking. Has your daughter been treated for babesia?

I know that with my sweating, my LLMD put me on babs treatment and it's definitely been settling down.

I do hope you can get to the bottom of it. Good luck.

She did a four month stint of mepron/zith a couple of years ago.

She is in mino/plaq now.

I have heard that botox injections can reduce sweating. I'm not sure if that would be temporary or permanant, but my guess is temporary.

I have heard of people getting Botox injections on their underarms to reduce sweating. I think people also do them on the feet, so maybe hands would be an option as well.

It is something I have considered, because like your daughter, a lot of times I can only wear white or black shirts also.

Depending on the "phase," sometimes I also sweat a lot on my back and chest, in addition to the underarms, but the underarms is the first place I would consider getting the Botox, because that is where clothing is often the tightest for me and where sweat becomes most obvious and embarrassing.

Obviously there would be pro's and con's to weigh, but I'm just throwing the idea out there.

not taking antidepressants is she? My son had a problem with sweating, and I recall that it was partially due to wellbutrin or effexor xr (and yes he does have babesia)

kelmo,

My hubby has/had the heavy sweating thing too. His did improve with abx, tx for lyme and bart. When he stopped tx, the sweating came back. He started back up, sweating has gotten better.

Has your daughter been treated for bart?

Just a thought.

Please look into homeopathy before jumping into surgery...

Hoos...I've been concerned about botox because I didn't feel we should be introducing another organism into the body. Something about botox scares me. Maybe I'm overeacting.

kp. Yes, she has been treated for bart.

She is still positive on band 41, which her LLMD believes is an organism that is protozoal in nature.

I want to hold off doing anything drastic until she is finished with treatment for that.

Thanks for all your replies. This is a wonderfully supportive group of people.

Kelmo--

I think it is most likely Babs--

Babs treatment takes a LONG time
to be effective --

Maybe change Babs meds to something new-

I had both Night sweats and heavy sweats
during the rest of the Day -

My Night sweats ended first then the
daily sweats ended- the Day sweats ended
about 3 months after night sweats--

Hope this helps--Jay--
