My stomach has been very sensitive in the last few years. I am unable to take most vitamins without stabbing pains and have been having problems with all oral meds (except prilosec which my stomach seems to like).

It looks like I am headed for IV antibiotics because my stomach cannot tolerate orals. Recently I was put on Depakote for migraine symptoms and cannot tolerate that either.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a remedy for it?

the good high count pro-biotics have helped my gi a lot. on a 50 billion count/refrid. required

still have little bouts, but LLMD told me to take more when i do. so off the vitamin store i go tomm. to restock!!

my oldest (12) and not yet been worked up for lyme but has gi upset all the time. started him on just 4 billion count every night and now 2 wks later the stomach pain, and any other problems are gone

I'm also unable to tolerate meds. I tried to go on abx twice, lasted two weeks the first time, and about 5 days the second time. Both times (sorry for the gross factor!!) my bm's turned to orange fire water.

Soooo. The doc has been trying to treat homeopathically, with cats claw, bromelain, vitamin D3 (which bloodwork showed was low) and B6. Unfortunately, my tummy rejected this as well (bad stomach aches, more diarhea).

I have a lot of symptoms, but they are all relatively mild (and they cleared right up with abx!), so I doubt that the doc is willing to consider IV for me.

Currently, I take the homeopathics at the smallest dose possible, then when the tummy acts up, I stop, let it return to normal, than start again. I'm not sure what else I can do.

I wish I had an answer for you (and me!), perhaps someone else will.

I am wondering if IV abx or homeopathy are the way to go.

I am taking acidophilis several times a day but have only had mild success. Whatever my GI problems are, they seem to be too much for acidophilis alone to handle.

Any advice is appreciated!

yeah, seems like the antibiotics are really tearing me up too.

I had so many stomach problems..I lost 20 lbs and I weighed 116 to start. Funny thing is, 2 years down the road, my stomach is ok..I now think thebart was affecting it more. Some life savers...prilosec daily, DGL licorice chewable tabs before a meal, and L-glutamine daily. I had fun putting the weight back on!

Which abx are you on? I hope if you're on doxy that you are taking it with plenty of food.

Also, maybe you need to modify your diet. You need to follow a healthy low carb, no sugar diet. Stay away from starches. Yeast will be your worst enemy if you don't.... and could be the cause of your current GI distress.

Right now I am not on antibiotics because I cannot tolerate them. I have also had some heart problems and my LLMD is afraid that die-off might cause heart block.

I am on a low carb, no sugar, no soy, lactose free diet. Not sure what else I can cut out!
