If you click on Disease Maps, you can run your cursor over any state and it will show the numbers of dogs reported with Lyme, canine ehrlichia, anaplasma and heartworm btn 2001-2007.
Reports obtained from vets, IDEXX lab and telephone surveys.

None of the published maps are accurate.
Numbers and cases are under reported.
CDC has maps...and lyme groups have theirs by state! They do not match. It's actually in every state...if you believe the numbers reported by support groups and from sites like lymenet.
And those are raw estimates...it is truely in epidemic proportions , I believe.
I was at a recent discussion about this with a rep from the CDC in NJ,discussing this very issue.
Good person is working on this as a CDC rep in NJ, that is just becoming aware of our plight. She is frustrated as well of how to get to the true numbers.
They are working on ways to get accurate numbers...but cannot as the criteria for lyme by the CDC does not include chronic cases or ones without the rash.
You have to have the picture perfect case and diagnosis to be counted...
and then it has to be reported by the Dr's staff, and then there has to be someone at your Cities or Towns health dept. paid to take down the numbers and keep a file,
and then they must remember to send them to the CDC! Too many variables...and hence under reporting!
Also the ones with the rash are not always reported by Infectious Disease Dr's or by GP's.
It's a funding issue and a clerical issue as well. The Town/State needs people to input the info...after they receive it form the MD.

My LLMD reported my neighborhood's cases of lyme and Rockey Mt Spotted Fever...but when I checked...they are not documented!
Every person with a Rockey Mt. Sp FEver report is to be personally contacted to verify it. I never received the call.
There are NO current reported RSMF cases in NJ! My whole neighborhood has been diagnosed and treated for it! Interesting!

Those are both pretty old. I wonder if there is a new/current one anywhere? Although that won't be accurate anyway with all of the unreported cases.

I think the CDC map is about 10 years old... Need I say more?
Most times when I have seen that map there are no dates as to when the data was compiled.
You might have to file a freedom of information act form to find accurate data - if it exists... (she said sarcastically...).

Tadich, the CDC maps are about the most accurate you will Find, when it comes to (mandatory) reported domestic cases of Lyme disease. These cases are, by definition, all CDC+.
ILADS does have a map but I believe it's based on the CDC's. (P.S: The IDSA is the truely untrustworthy group, as far as I'm concerned, not the CDC)

Also, you can often find States that issue Tick infection rates- by county- here in the Northeast.
Some have websites that chart the counties... & even provide Lyme density maps (of dragged ticks), like Wisconson.

How about this? It is only the reported cases... mostly what you'd find in most places... unfortunately.
