Is it ok during Lyme tx?....as I know it initially triggers some inflammation?
I have read that a course of 4-6 treatments is recommended at 1 week intervals...is this usual?
How expensive is it?
Can more than one area be targeted at the one time? ie lower back and shoulder area?
Thanks for any feedback.

I have had prolo on my knees. Don't know how it was done, but my ins. covered it. I am unsure of whether or not it helped. If it did, results for me were minimal.
I know of another person who was having prolo fro migraines and tri-neuralgia and they were having very good results.
I think that costs vary according to the doc doing the shots.
C Everatt Koop the former surgeon general had excellent results on his severe back problems and avoided surgery.
Hope this helps, Feelfit

I had prolotherapy done on my lower back. The doctor hit my sciatic nerve. I ended up in the emergency room, laid on the floor for four days, got a blood clot in my leg and ended up getting a lumbar fusion. Just my experience.

Elaine, I had Prolo in my TMJ bilaterally.
Insurance did not cover injections but only the visit.
cost me around 225 bucks for 4 injections, 2 injections on each side of my face.
I had a wonderful experience with my first injections. When I went back for my second inj. 1 month later, I had a bit more pain, so I did not go back for my 3rd set of injections.
I was very much pain free for several months. After a year now I'm starting to get more pain. My pain could be from abx treatment trigering a herx.
My Dr. says some joints do better than others with prolotherapy. The TMJ area just happens to be one of the best joints to do prolo on.
I'm so glad I did it. I may do it on my neck/sholders later on if lyme treatment doesn't help with the pain.
Just to clarify. The injection experience was NOT wonderful but the freedom from pain was wonderful. Sorry... big needles just don't feel good no matter what. hth
