I just thought if I (we) are getting enough potassium on our low carb diets.

I never ate low carb, I felt horrible when I did, but I did eat low-simple-carb. [Smile]

Yes, six. I believe you are the exception on this site.

I wish it were the future and we could scan your body with a computer to see whats 'really' goin on...

I am currently on Rx potassium supplements - but that is because one of my meds is apparently one that can cause low potassium.

This is a good question, and I'm curious about how many of us would test low or high in potassium?

Have to be careful with potassium.

I have Rx potassium, but only take it about once every two months.

I try to maintian potassium by diet.

Many food items are high in potassium.

These food items have more than 225 milligrams

Of potassium per 1/2 c. serving.

-All Meats, poultry and fish

-Apricots (fresh)

-Avocado

-banana

-cantalope

- Honey dew

- Kiwi

- Lima Beans

- Milk

- Oranges and orange juice

- Potatoes

- prunes

- spinach

- tomatoes

- veg. juice

- winter squash

Too much potassium isn't good for the body either.

Hugs,

Geneal

Coconut water is an excellent source of potassium also!

I also become deathly ill if I eat low carb, so sixgoofykids is not the only one.

I've read this could be due to acquired porphyria, but don't know if I have it or not.

I only know I have to eat plenty of carbs and eat them at least four times daily, or I can't even walk to the mailbox.

Many herbal tx can raise potassium since they are plant concentrates.

I had to go to the ER once and was given a horrible med that caused cramping and diarrhea, to remove excess potassium I got from an herbal Lyme remedy (Monastery of Herbs Lyme sets #173).

Klutzo,

Did the med make you sick or the herb? Could you please clarify? How did you know you had excess potassium?

Thanks,

Gael
