I'm interested in this new drug Tigecycline - it's supposed to be 100 times more effective than Doxy. If anyone has read Pamela Weintraub's book Cure Unkonwn - she talks about it and the way it works in there.

I was just wondering if any of you know and Doctors who will use this in their treatment regimen? If so could you PM me with their info? I am in NH so anyone relatively close to the East Coast would be good.

Thaaaaaaaaanks!

A handful of docs have used it, some with not so great results, but a few have posted here it helped them.

Do a search here in Medical for Tigecycline, you'll find some threads.

Seems to be the talk of the town in Minnesota tonight. It was brought up during Pam Weintrab's talk tonight. One woman said it was an amazing drug for her. She is on the 6th week. My LLMD has heard that it is really hard on the system and shouldn't be used for more than 4 - 6 weeks.

I'm interested in hearing more from people using it. Is there an oral version?

Peace, The first 4 weeks are tough but once you get over that it was easy.

My home health nurse said it was becoming a popular drug for infections (not just lyme).

I did four months & it was the best treatment for me. I'd like to go back on it. ( Had to stop due to blood clot.)

My LLMD uses it.....short courses 4 - 6 weeks. Very difficult to tolerate, I just finished and am feeling pretty good (or maybe it is just the relief of getting off of Tyg!).

Wow, why only short course? It seems you just get over the body's adjustment and then you stop.

Then if you start over your body's got to go thru the side effects again.
