My daughter who is 3 months old has a bullseye rash on her chest. It has a red middle, looks like a bite, then normal skin, and then a red circle around. The rash is only 1/4 inch big. We took her to the doctor and they said that if it started to get bigger, they would treat her. It has been two days since we saw it and the rash is starting to fade.

Does not treating her sound like the right course of action?

Thanks for any help.

take pictures for evidence once the rash is gone!

I was just going to suggest that. Also, if you can, take a separate picture with a penny or dime or some other suitable round object next to the rash so that the doctors will have a size reference in the future.

Also, I read somewhere once that it is a good idea to make sure the picture of the rash can easily be associated with the person who actually has the rash. So, in addition to close-ups, maybe a photo of your baby's face that also captures the rash at the same time.

I am sorry you and your baby are going through this.

I wish you the best of luck.

I don't think you can be too careful. Does the rash look like this?

Rivendell,,,

Okay "IF" the answers are no,,,AND the baby HAS this rash,,,why????

Why would you say it isnt necessary to treat?? Speak slowly cause I confuse easily.

What other diseases would CAUSE a bullseye rash???

In MY opinion,,,a bullseye rash "IS" definitive of lyme in and of itself,,,regardless of 'seeing' a tick or ANY other reasons.

Please enlighten me because I am unaware of this NEW theory!!!

confused--just don--

I would find a doctor who will treat immediately. She can get better with early treatment. If you wait till she has symptoms, she can end up with a lifetime of illness like many of us here. SHE NEEDS MEDS, NOW!

A bullseye is diagnostic of Lyme Disease. Period.

Just Don,

Sorry, I am already sick with CFS and have memory/concentration problems. I read her post as a "rash", not a "bull's eye rash". Yes, it sounds like Lyme.

PEACE

Treat now ask questions later.

Most doctors are complete idiots when it oomes to Lyme.

Tests now would more than likely be neg. and when

weighing the fact that yes it could be spider if it gets bigger

it is fading so in light of that and the fact 50 percent of rashes are missed or absent

which way is the scale bent?

I had rather have peace of mind that I did what I could with a bulls eye rash present.
