I had a full physical the first one to come back is VIT D and I had very low levels they were a 14, she wants me on 50,000 IUs a week for 4 weeks. is this ok to take? i read when searching on here to start out lower and that D feed lyme is this true. I really dont want to come out of remission over some Vit D but i do feel its important to get it to where it needs to be. I was told aswell this might explain why even though im eating right and jogging 3 miles a day im not loosing any weight whatsoever i guess there is a connection to all this! should it be taken with anything ele mag, calcium etc?

Does she want you to take it all in one day per week or can you spread it out? Maybe you could take 10,000 IU per day for 5 days, take two days off and repeat??

While some may recommend D supplementation, the general consensus is that steroids reduce immume system function, and thus are best avoided. On that basis, since Vitamin D is a steroid, it should be avoided if you want your immune system functioning as well as it otherwise can.

I was on 50,000 IU twice a week for two months.

My Vitamin D level was 17. It is much better now after the extra dosage, but I can't remember what it is.

i have read 100 things that say don't take it with lyme and 100 things that say to take it when you have lyme. seems a bit controversial.

My level was 20 and doc put me on same 50,000 iu a week but i choose to take 7,000 a day.

Been taking it about a month and I am not improved with muscle pain at all, I have actually felt worse this month but I dont know if its just the progression of my disease or anything to do with the vit. D. No way to know really...

Hi whatayear,

No, actually, I didn't even notice the difference.

My LLMD said that low Vitamin D is often a problem with Lyme patients.
