My BP has always been extrememly low. It is borderline high now. Have Jaw discomfort also. The cardio said lyme can cause heart problems. Any input anyone. Thanks. God Bless Theresa

Wow, you got a cardiologist who knows something about lyme? That is a rare find. Good for him.
Yes, lyme and coinfections (especially Cpn) can contribute to heart problems. However, sometimes the low blood pressure is a problem with the autonomic / sympathetic nervous systems. Lyme really has a hurricane force with messing up all that.
Adrenal dysfunction and liver deficiency, too, can be connected.
You should search for NMH (neurally mediated hypotension) and POTS. I'm not sure if that is in this thread or not (and, sorry, too tired to elaborate. Others will come along. My energies are best used to copy and paste links.)

I was in the hospital for 18 days out of this month because my heart feels like it is being stabbed with a knife.
I have shortness of breath, weakness, and dizziness.
They did an Echocardiogram and found Mitral Valve Regurgitiation.
They also found an elevated ST level while pumping.
I would highly recommend going to a GOOD cardiologist. Most of them when finding out you have Lyme will push you away like your crazy. What else is new???
Get it checked out, you heart is nothing to mess around with.
Do some searches on here, top right, search icon and search heart and lyme. You will be surprised at what you can find.
This disease attacks everything in your body!

Yeah, I have heart problems and I also have low BP.
The heart problems scare me BIG time.... my cardiologist says my heart is fine though... but I have chronic tachycardia as well as palpitations, and a murmur that comes and goes.

I went to the ER Friday because of the jaw discomfort(sign of Heart Trouoble) also dizzyness (I have that often due to lyme and babs). Today I went to cardio and he must be lyme literate because he said lyme can cause heart problems.
Keebler, you mention POTS and Neuro mediated hypo....however my pressure is now high after being low all my life! I go the my Lyme MD next week and will see what he has to add. Meanwhile I did have ekgs and xrays and blood work for initial heart screening.

I have mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation and atrial fibrillation. The A-fib is NOT good stuff! But so far, my new med has kept it under control pretty well.

I have congestive heart failure from lyme. My ejection fraction fell as low as 25%, now it's up to 45% thanks to beta blockers. So it will definitely mess up your heart. I saw a number of cardiologist that said my heart was fine, turns out they didn't know how to read an echo and finally I found a cardiologist that could do his job and got a little symptomatic relief.

This is kind of concerning me. Especially hearing of cardiologist saying nothing is wrong when there is something wrong.
I have a murmur, my q-waves are "longer than normal" ???, and I have had tightness in my chest, jaw, and shoulder that I would describe as achy. I have recently become extremely fatigued, but this is getting better today. My doctor said all is well...just watch out for medications that would affect the q wave thing...and then she failed to tell me which medications those would be.
I don't want to see another specialist. I don't want to see another doctor!
ETA: I also have the thumping, pounding, skipping a beat, make you gasp kind of things going on in my chest.

I also have low blood pressure, a very slow heart rate, dizziness, syncope, and pressure in my chest.
I was diagnosed with Dysautonomia and am starting Florinef.
It is interesting to hear how common these symptoms are amongst Lymies.

Jasmin... I THINK biaxin can affect the Q wave. Whatever it is, it now bothers my heart and so does Avelox.
I have diastolic disfunction. Slight mitral regurgitation and trace tricuspid regurgitation. I am told, so far, all of this is nothing to worry about.
I also have benign tachycardia.....everyday. My resting HR is too low for a beta-blocker.

about Neuro mediated hypo: Even with high blood pressure, one can have NMH. It has to do with what happens to the blood pressure after standing up - or exerting oneself.
You can test the blood pressure again right after standing but that gets the orthostatic reading. If you tire after standing or walking, since you had low blood pressure for so long you might also be having fluctuations in it, even if it is borderline high.
I'm not sure about if POTS can be the same but I know that it is possible to even have high blood pressure but have it tank upon exertion.
