This is a sick subject, but I have noticed since diagnosed with Lyme that I have been getting warts on my Left hand.
Is it possible that the Lyme and Co's are causing this? or is it just bad luck?
I have tried everything to get rid of them. Even went to the doc to freeze one off, didn't work.

I don't know if there is a connection but three of my family members (husband and two daughters) were real "Warties" when they were sick with lyme, but before they started treatment.
They would have outbreaks on their hands mostly, but also on their feet. With lyme treatment the wart outbreaks are gone.......and no one has had a wart in a long time. In their case I'm inclined to think that their immune system is better able to deal with the HPV virus.
The other part (pure speculation with a bit of research to back it up) is that untreated or undertreated Babesia can cause viruses to run amok in your body. I think there is some research out of Africa where there was shown to be a relationship between Malaria patients and HHV6 activiation.
It is a tangled web that these pathogens weave!

Warts are caused by a virus. I would assume that the Lyme and coinfections have weakened your immune system.
There have been previous discussions about the TH1 and TH2 immune response. One of those responses is primarily for viral infections and the other is primarily for bacteria. With Lyme you tend to get stuck in one of those patterns -- forget which one -- and the immune system does not jump back and forth as it should between Th1 and Th2.
Your total WBC could even be normal but that doesn't mean your immune system is working as it should. For example many people with a low CD57 have a normal WBC.
Can't tell you what to do about the warts as hubby has not had this problem.

i got one on my right finger now for a year!
LLMD gave me an acid reducer and said that it helps get rid of warts (if you can believe that!)

My daughter has had a couple removed from her elbows. So, it's possible.
What about skin tags?

Yes, I have a bunch of skin problems, including warts which I never had before. My issue is that the dermatologist isn't really sure it's warts. Tells me to use Compound W, but that doesn't really kill it. It's more like these small acne like, whiteheads under the skin. On my palms, ankles...and I have these 2 strange looking bumps on my knuckles.
Those were really weird because my knuckles got really itch and then I saw the 2 bumps form right before my eyes. I was showing my co-worker and she said I must be an alien! The bumps have not gone away in over 2 years. Derm says it's warts but it doesn't look like a wart.
I have a lot of other skin issues - and feel that they are from bart or other tbd. Ughhh!

Yes I've had these. Possibly Lyme-related. Try the duct tape method. Frequently works. I kid you not. Cover it with duct tape. Remove after 6 days. Wash and scrub the wart. Then reapply the duct tape. Takes a few weeks.

Funny, I tried the duct tape too but it did not work. All I ended up with was a bunch of sticky adhesive on my skin.
But my family got a good laugh. I heard it does work for a lot of people....which makes me think that it's not warts....just other skin problems from the bart.

I just recently started getting warts on my hands. They are small ones that come in groups, stay for a few weeks, and then leave. Soon after I get a whole new bunch somewhere else on my hands.
I know they are warts because I had warts as a kid and I am positive that's what it is. However the ones I had as a kid were bigger, I would only get one at a time, and it would last for a year or two.
Not sure what is causing it but, I have very high EBV titers and since they are both herpes virus, I guessing it has to do with my immune system.

I have a wart on my right foot that has been there since being sick as well.
I think it also has to do with you immune system and underlying infections such as HPV.
I also have a tiny one on my right hand as well. You can barely see it though.
I hate the one on my toe. It's gross and I can't get rid of it either.

I got a wart ln my left hand right when i started having lyme symptoms.
the funny thing was that it did not have the cauliflower look to it and i went to the derm he froze it but it still didn't come off.
i eventually picked it off abut it seemed to come back a little. i also had a cut on the same finger(i accidently cut with a knife) that instead of scabbing developed the same nodule.
again the derm froze it thinking it was a wart.
started my cedax treatment a week ago and they seem to be going away.
not sure if it is in my mind that the abs did it or did the freeze eventually kick in.
do yours have the cauliflower appearance?
the skin on the bump was smooth. i have had warts before and these just looked a little different.
also, in the past the freeze usually worked real well.
i have read that bart can cause weird nodules?
anyone else read this?

Me, my husband, and daughter all have lyme. We have all had issues with warts. My husband and I had more problems as children.
My daugheter has a big planter's wart on her foot. We have frozen it 3 times, and we apply compound W. This has been months. Next week we are going to the dermatologist to have it cut off.
So, my assumption is the same as the one listed above, with all our body is fighting, it can't fight the warts too, or maybe it realizes that that is one of the "less dangerous" problems??

I jsut started noticing this on my hands. You can barely see them, has to be in the right light. Hmm, glad to know I'm not alone, another weird symptom to add to the lyme list.

I have tried everything to remove them but nothing works.

mmm.. coincidently I got one soon after lyme diagnosis but blamed it on my husband's little granddaughter because she has big yuckky warts on her hands. She has held my hands.
I always thought they were contagious, like the planter kind.
Now I have another one on the same hand, and I am planning a visit to the derm to get them burned off.

My daughter has warts on almost every finger, under the nail bed, plus 3 plantar's warts on her feet, one of which is now huge.
She went to the dermatologist twice last summer for anti-viral treatment, but did not go back to the last and 3rd appt. because she left for college.
Now, this summer, they have increased in number and size, and she has already gone 4 times. The usual number of effective visits is 2. The ones on her feet still are not close to being okay.
I would advise anyone with warts and other problems like Lyme, to go asap to a dermatologist and treat them while they are still treatable.
We fooled around with duct tape and with the meds at the drug store, and wish we had acted sooner. She was always too busy, if well, or too sick (in which case we could not get any doctors to focus on warts as a priority).
Now, she cannot play the guitar (she is a classical guitarist) and after treatments she can't walk!

What's the difference between the two? Maybe some people see them as the same? Dunno. That's why I am asking.

skin tags are little tiny floppy moles, usually brown in color.
warts are nasty and they can be white or clear with a black dot in them (the seed). they have roots and are very hard to remove and spread on the host.
Warts are a virus, part of the herpes SIMPLEX family.

Gem, thx for saying that -- as I had a very different idea about this. More than Herpes here? 6A? 6Z? The possibilities are tortuous!
I am thankful I don't have any. The only reason I know anything about this is that I go to a health club several times a month to get back in shape. The number and size of skin tags I try not to notice on men is scary and a bit alarming...and shocking.

I thought I had an outbreak of warts a few years ago. I freaked out that they were clusters on both hands and the Derm. couldn't see me for a month.
I had some leftover liquid wart med, specially made by my previous Dermatologist. I used that, covered each bump with CURAD MEDIPLAST, then waterproof tape. You can get the Mediplast at a pharmacy, behind the counter.
Cut the Mediplast into patches only big enough to cover the wart. It will rip off healthy skin if it touches it!!
They went away and I didn't need to see the Dr. I really don't think they were truly warts, though. No black dot inside the bumps.
Just had another patch of them recently, but it went away and the skin peeled off on its own.
I have high EBV igg and equivocal igg for HHV6.

Since beginning Lyme treatment 1 1/2 years ago I have reacquired some warts in exactly the same places I had them as a child. Go figure!
