I've had it done and it didn't cause any ill effects on me.
It is not near as bad as the MRI machine, that's for sure.

So how many of you have exhibited actual brain atrophy on a scan? Is it less common than simple hypoperfusion, or is that just wishful thinking?

the radiotracer should be HMPAO not neurolite. neurolite might detect disruptions in perfusion from alzheimer's plaque, toxoplasmosis, shotgun wounds, not lyme.
