about 20+ years ago I was infected by a tick and suffered terribly with Lyme disease..... after the first tough 8 yrs or so passed (and lots of treatment by a Lyme literate doctor) ~ the symptoms seemed to only flare every few years, the last flare up being last year.
I have most likely been reinfected several times since then, as I have found and removed ticks over the years... flare ups rarely coinciding with these tick bites...
BUT ~ last night I was aware of some pain behind my knee... When I got up this morning it really really hurt so I took a look at it and low and behold there was the tick.... Blood engorged and still alive... I carefully removed it.... but it fell in the toilet.
I have never had ANY of my tick bites be painful... the site is swollen & red & I can barely bend my leg at the knee...
Can anyone shed some light on this ,what it may mean ~ This has never happened before.... has anyone else had pain? does it mean something other than the tick is probably infected? and of course I am nervous...
Thanks Gemini

Possibly it is a reaction to the tick's saliva (?)
I have been told that previously bitten individuals can have an allergic response to the tick's saliva.
Thoughts from others?

There's a huge chance you have been reinfected with Lyme and co-infections.

I hope you weren't reinfected, but you may have been. My LLMD says a person can get Lyme on top of Lyme meaning that if you had Lyme or have it now, even, you can get "more" Lyme with a new bite.
I am sorry this has happened to you.
