I'm just over 5 months into my initial treatment, and have been pulsing a variety of oral abx.
My gut has decided to protest. While most ppl get the opposite, I have constipation and as of late, a possible hemorrhoid.
I eat a high fiber diet, exercise most days, and drink lots of water. Stool softeners and non-stimulant laxatives (I tried "miralax") provide little relief.
I have an LLMD appt. a week from Friday, and I think the best thing to do is back off of my treatment until then.
I'm nervous, I've stopped before but only for as much as 3 or so days. Any advice on how to mange the situation? I'm scared of worsening symptoms or backsliding.
I also take plaquenil, but I think I'll stop that as well.
Any advice, general or specific, is much appreciated.

Have you tried Magnesium? Start with a couple tablets and work up to bowel tolerance. Basically, if you take too much you will develop diarrhea. Then back down a tablet or two to maintain regular BMs.
As for stopping the antibiotics, I really don't know if that will help you. I don't know if it would hurt to try it either. Can you call your doctor's office to ask for advice instead of waiting?
Good luck Wonko, I hope you feel better soon:)

Consider the Condensed Cowden Protocol from NutraMedix.

When I started abx I herxed miserably and my bowels just quit moving so I had to use an enema for about two weeks. Even magnesium did not work - but it went away and I got better.

How much in mg of vitmain C should make you go? I tried up to about 6 x 1,000mg at once and did nothing for me. I still have the bottle sitting here.

Are you incorporating probiotics into your regimen? I know from another thread that some folks with problems like yours started getting some relief once they included a LOT of probiotics in their diets.
