I had my psychological learning assessment for disability. Well, I was told I was in the low average range and had to be almost in a mental coma to get disability on mental impairment. By the new guidelines.
I was asked my age, had to think about that. Who is Cleopatra, who is Gandi? I did not know what that had to do with a job. I was never asked about time.
I was asked to compare and contrast words. Memorize letters and stories. I retold some of the story and as soon as I said my opinion, I forgot the rest.
Do a parquetry puzzle to evaluate my perceptual skills. That was a joke when in real life time, perceptual skills are not just a form puzzle but takes lots of processing.
Draw a picture and write a sentence about myself.
Sadly, I was not asked if I drove a car to get to a job,which I rarely do. Can I make a decision based on my information (the information I usually forget).
I guess my sensory restroom needs are not a factor as I told him, having a bowel accident at work would not be pleasing to customers nor a boss.
He did tell me that I had scattered skills and I did have impairments.
He told me to get a lawyer and don't be surprised if I get denied but definitely appeal.
Next the physical exam.

I am sorry that this process is so tough. And demeaning. Don't give up, you are more challenged than a lot of us here who are receiving SSDI......
You're just a brave woman with a valiant attitude. Use it to your benefit.

Sorry to hear you had such a time with it all.
We often exceed our "normal" levels when tested by outsiders for the simple pride of it all.
It's hard to let someone see how disabled we are and I don't think they realize how we try to compensate. Hopefully they will take that into account.

Geez, I didn't know you had to take an "SAT" to get disability!
UGhhhhh... draw a picture? My 3 year old can draw better than me.
I am sorry you had such a tough time.
I can't believe the guy was THAT blunt when he told you that it probably would be denied.
But then again you are dealing with Social Security...
I hope all works out in the end and I would definately get a lawyer to help you out.

Augh, I'm sorry you had to go through this and he told you to expect to be denied!! How awful. I am in the process of trying to get SSDI myself. I have sent everything in and now am just waiting to hear from them, which is not fun at all!!!
Thank you for telling us about your neuropsych visit. I'm curious about how those go because I might have to see one too for my SSDI case.

that's SSDI reality; when they send you to drs; they know you will NOT be approved at this stage og the game.
i was told the same thing and it didn't hurt as much.
1 dr. said only if you were lying on the floor barely reathing would they approve at that state.
i have 3 full drawers of a 4 drawer file cabinet full of my medicla records, 2 ssdi claims, and appeals over & over.

I am just on "Temporary Disability" because I am also on Workers Comp.
If I wasn't on Workers Comp., They were going to give me Permant Disability.....
