Hi...I have this strange rash which appeared on both of my legs about a week after I found a deer tick on me.

It has not gone away, and actually seems to have come out more since I started taking antibiotics.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

It doesn't appear to be like any lyme rash that I've seen -- it's almost more like a blotchy stretch mark rash.

Below are the links for the pictures -- any advice or ideas would be much appreciated -- thanks again!

leg rash 1

leg rash 2

leg rash 3

Looks like a bartonella rash probably. Which antibiotics are you on and have you been diagnosed with bartonella?

Yeah looks like Bartonella to me also.

The antibiotic I'm taking right now is Amoxicillin.

I actually tested negative for Bartonella at Igenex -- but tested positive for Lyme.

Are there different strains of Bartonella that they might not have tested for?

Thanks so much for the help!!! : )

Your rash looks like the pictures in my Bartonella book by Dr. Schaller.

I tested for Bartonella micoriti and Bartonella duncani by Fry Labs. I was positive for the first one.

I think there are lots of strains of Bartonella but there are not tests available to detect all of them.

There are many strains of Bartonella.

leelee are you sure that isn't babesia microti and babesia duncani?

Bart is usually tested by Quintana, Henselae, Rochalimae, and Bacilliformis...........especially the first two.

oh ok.....so do you think that taking the Amoxicillin should help?

You need to be taking a macrolide antibiotic for Bart/BLO......here is a little info for you.

Some LLMD's use Rifampin or Mycobutin combined with minocycline(much broader spectrum of the tetra class), zithromax, biaxin or ketek.

Amoxicillin (INN), formerly amoxycillin (BAN), is a moderate-spectrum, bacteriolytic, β-lactam antibiotic used

My daughter has Bartonella Hensalae. She has the same looking rash and her LLMD said it was from bartonella.

Is there a better lab than Igenex for Bartonella Testing?

Thanks again, I really appreciate the help!!!
