As far as seeing evidence microscopically, I have seen cercomons---which are giardia cysts, but never seen typical protozoa which is easily identifiable.

The oocystic spp. are the things I have seen and isolated.
If these things share chromosomes with malarial spp. then that explains things a bit better.
But, it looks at lot like stitch craft to me.
I have documented the sporozoites, which are typical of malaria, and actually watched them enter cells. They could not enter red blood cells, or macrophages, but prefer mast cells [type T]. There are no respritory issues, so I suspect they get into very specific cell groups, that do not elicit crucial immuno pathways, only very low level hyper sensitivity reactions. This is no worse than sneezing, or itchyness.

In others however, it could be a different story all together, plus co-infections play a major role.
