Maybe they do for some people. I've had them for at least 6 years and I'm on my second round of babesia treatment.

Petechiae will go away.

Some people confuse cherry angioma's and other skin rashes/conditions with petechiae. These may not go away.

I have them all over my torso. But my dad has them too and I don't think he's infected. I always figured they were hereditary, but then I heard they can be associated with babesia.

I think I have had lyme and bart for years but do not have many symptoms. I have wondered if I also have babs too.

How do you know the difference between petechiae and cherry angioma's?

Mine go away with treatment, but once I stop they reappear....

Same thing with the Bart rashes for myself.

I have had the red dots for 6 months then with treatment they disappeared.

I still get outbreaks every now and then....

They are hemorrhages - bleeding under the skin. Escape of blood from the blood vessels to surrounding tissue. If you can stop the cause for it, they will probably go away.

yeah, but is lyme the cause? my mom had them but here's were much larger than mine. i'm the only one that has them, my sisters don't.

but mine are itsy-bitsy red boinkey dots, just pinhead size. mom's were dime to quarter size.

I've had the same tiny red dots for 15 years now.when i showed my Dr. he said if those are petechiae, thier the smallest ones ive ever seen.

he never gave me a reason for having them.sometimes i have more than other times. dont know why.

I have been diagnosed with cfs/fibro, but now am looking into lyme.its gotta be the bugs doing it.

I think Terry is right. My doctor told me the same, it could be from ammonia which I had in blood. Many with infections have high ammonia.
Thhe ammonia is making tiny explosions and damaging the tiny blood vessels.
Mine are gone at the moment. I personally thought they are from bartonella. Also Dr. S told me that.
But I think Terry is right,many things can cause the dots.
Do you also have extreme tiny black dots on your skin?

I have the small black dots evewrywhere!! they only recently started appearing with an increase in my symptoms. I also have the little red dots everywhere.. my doctor dismisses them. along with lyme disease..

nope, no black dots for me, just teeny little boinkey red ones...

now i wish they would be blue or green or something, cause i'm fair and they show up something fierce...

my primary said "oh i see those alot in fair overweight white women"....uh huh...

My Babesia rash on my upper arms went away almost completely while I was on Mepron for 4 months. I have been off Mepron now for a few months and the rash is back but only slightly.

I've had them for about 30 yrs or so. Lyme for 50.
(I may have had them for 50 .. who knows or remembers???) [Razz]

I started to get very small red dots post-Lyme; my doc didn't know what they were.

Post-treatment, I still get them. My dermatologist said they were cherry spots, and that they were genetically-caused. No worries. [Smile]

But I still think it's strange that I never noticed them pre-Lyme.

In Schaller's book on bartonella there are pictures of these and that is what clarified it for me that I had bart for sure. They look like tiny blood blisters. I only have a few but they are not going away yet. In a way it is nice to have these as they confirm when treatment is working and when you are relapsing. My LLMD did not know to look for them, or anything else on the skin. He never examined my body but diagnosed me on my mental symptoms for bartonella.
