I just restarted Ceftin to replace the IV Rocephin until I can get a line figured out.
I had forgotten how horrific the taste is. I've noticed since I've been back on it though that everything tastes yucky.
I keep asking my husband if there is something wrong with our water. This is not just when I take the pills but all the time. I'm on a higher does then I was a couple years ago....but I don't remember this.
Our water tastes really gross, and other things just seem to have no taste. I dont' have a cold or allergies or anything like that going on, so I wondered if anyone else had experienced this from Ceftin?

Yeah, if even a little bit touches your tongue, it affects the taste of everything.
I tried coating in oil, and felt that it wasn't good enough.
What DOES work? Get some size 000 empty gelatin capsules (vitamin and natural health food stores sell these) and pop the ceftin in there. I have not had a single problem with tasting that HORRIBLE taste in my mouth all day since then.

I'm on Ceftin now. Yes, it tastes bad but the taste has been fleeting for me. Just chase it with powerade or something...no biggie...
Some people say Biaxin tastes bad....they should try Ceftin Posted by Tracy9 (Member # 7521) on :
Awesome idea Kim!
I thought Mepron was bad until I went on Ceftin. But the taste this time isn't fleeting, well the actual disgusting Ceftin taste leaves after an hour or so but everything else tastes gross....mainly water....all the time now.
I'm going to try Kim's idea. I think I made a big mistake popping two together in my mouth today, I couldn't choke them down and of course they rapidly begin to dissolve, ugh.
Tonight I took a big drink of water and then put the pill in and washed it down real quick!!

I wish I had known about Kim's suggestion when I was on Ceftin! It was horrible. I talked to two different pharmacists to find out if certain generics perhaps were worse than others, or worse than the brand, and they said they're all like that.
I'm on Biaxin now and it's not nearly as bad, although some days it's kind of yucky. So I'll try Kim's approach. I have heard about using oil to coat the pills.

It's odd...the taste fades within minutes for me. It must be the female tongue lol.

Well truthfully is my concern is whether it's the Ceftin or something is wrong with our water! That's why I'm hoping to hear from others.....I can't explain it, the waster just tastes gross now.
