I am allergic to penicillins and supposed to take 500mg Ceftin a day now. Started yesterday.
I know there is a chance of being allergic to Ceftin also.
Does any1 know when the allergic signs will kick in if I'm allergic to Ceftin? Does it show right away or can you have a delayed allergic response?

Best to check with an allergist! They can do skin tests and see if you are sensitive to ceftin.
Good luck with that, have an antihistamine handy if you are going to take ceftin and do develop a reaction.

FYI, there's a 15% chance you'd be allergic to Ceftin if you are to penicillin.

I'm allergic to penicillin but have had no allergic response to Ceftin. (I've had a terrible taste in my mouth, antibiotic-related diarrhea, and herxing, but no allergy).
So I can't tell you how long it would take for the allergic response, but I can say that my pharmacist recommended having some benadryl or other anti-histamine on hand, in case I developed hives, shortness of breath, or other symptom indicative of an allergic response.
If the above happen, you should stop taking the Ceftin and speak with your doc.
