Throughout this whole thing I've noticed very mild eye pain on and off. Kinda like the eye pain you have when you are sick and feverish. However starting about 2 days ago it's got worse. My left eye is feeling very painful and it hurts when I blink. My eye just feels kinda swollen and weird as well. I don't have any visual problems and never had... just pain.
I'm kind of concerned about this as am worried about optic neuritis assocaited with MS.
I have not been dx'd with anything yet. I've had two normal mri's and normal neuro exams, therefore the dr's don't think it is MS. Still worries me though.
Can lyme cause Eye pain? Does anyone else experience this??

in my NON-medical opinion; YES, we all have different types of eye pain.

This has bothered me off and on as well for the past 16 months so you are not alone
It's my right eye - sometimes aches like crazy - feels like someone is squeezing it or pushing on it from behind - I often feel like it is a bit 'blurry' as well, although my vision doesn't seem to be overly affected...
My neurologist didn't think this was MS related either - went to see eye doctor about a year ago when this started bothering me and they didn't see anything that concerned them -
For me it comes and goes in cycles which makes me think it is related to Lyme
I have developed eye pressure in my left eye that comes and goes. It's not painful in the scheme of things - just annoying and yet ANOTHER reminder that something is wrong.
It's more constant lately though. It's annoying.

I think bartonella can cause eye pain, and perhaps lyme too.
One of my sons recently started taking rifampin for bartonella and now he never complains of eye pain anymore. In his experience, I think it is the bartonella causing it.
If you are not familiar with lyme/coinfections, you might want to read up on the symptom list...there could be other symptoms you have that you don't even realize are symptoms of lyme and tick-borne diseases.
I would start with reading Dr. Burrescano's "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease," 2008 version.

I'm going to be upfront and blunt because this is very serious.
Lyme can cause all kinds of eye problems which CAN lead to a very serious situation...permanent damage and even blindness.
Our eye symptoms OFTEN are the first indication of a systemic problem.
Ask ANY eye doctor...they know.
You'd be amazed at what they can tell about the state of the body when they examine the eyes.
To treat most eye problems, they suggest upping the Omega 3s.
Great, except you likely need a LOT.
Try OmegaBrite. Follow the bottle directions. You have to order it over the internet and sorry, it is not cheap.
It is the ester of EPA - one of the omega 3s at a very very high level.
It will reduce the inflammation that can -> eye nerve damage.
***Note: "a lysine deficiency accentuates EFA deficiency."***
So...lysine alone (which is cheaper) might help. A lysine deficiency effects a lot more than "just" EFA levels.
And it does appear Bb is depleting lysine among so many other nutrients!
My sister had to resort to steroid shots (x2) IN her eyes to halt uveitis. Needless to say, she was very reluctant and very scared, but it WORKED. At one point in time all she could see was the big "E" on the chart.
Now she can see again and in fact with her last eyeglass prescription (new glasses), she needed LESS correction.
It did NOT stop her lyme arthritis, but DID stop the damage being done to her eyes.

I get this daily lately and have had it in the past.
For me, it's both eyes, and gives me a feeling of being tired, when I'm really not. Usually goes away and comes back during the day several times.
Right now, it's pain, but has been pressure in the past. From all the posts I've been through, this is a very common symptom and I wish it was the only one to deal with, but unfortunately there are about 30 others in my case.
Wouldn't get too worried about it if you suspect you have Lyme, but I guess best to have it checked out to make yourself fell better.

I had the fever ache pain for quite awhile (months) and finally went to the eye dr. He said I described it very well, it was episcleritis. I, also, had conjunctivitis (not the bacterial one). I was treated with steroid eye drops and haven't had it since.
I have dry eyes, too, that both of my eye drs. say is from Lyme. I used Restasis with success for yrs., but lately it hasn't done the job. I now have to use low dose steroid drops in addition to the Restasis. I have a follow up next week and will see if it is getting the job done.
