I've been sick for nearly 8 years. Tested positive for Lyme in Dec 2008. My husband tested positive for Lyme as well, 3 months ago. We are in our early/mid 20s and we are EXHAUSTED dealing with Lyme.

I'm nearing the 6 month mark of treatment and am worse than ever. Bedridden, unable to bathe myself, some days cannot walk, basically unable to function. Completely dependent on my husband to care for me.

So far I've been treated with oral abx. I'm currently on Rifampin and Biaxin to tx Bart, and very little progress has been made. Also been focusing on detoxing, low inflamm diet.

We have decided to move the the Los Angeles area so that we can be closer to family for support because of how sick I am.

We've found LLMDs in the Los Angeles area, and have an appointment booked with one, but are wondering whether we should consider traveling elsewhere for a more experienced LLMD. So far, I haven't heard anything particularly great about any of the LLMDs in Los Angeles. (please PM me if you know of a GOOD llmd in the area!)

Seeing how poorly I've responded to treatment thus far, and how I have have been sick for nearly 8 years, with a lot of neuro involvement, we're wondering whether we should be more aggressive with treatment and we want to see someone who really knows what he/she is doing.

We have supportive parents who would help us financially if we decided to travel to see an LLMD elsewhere. (PMs with recommendations for some of the top LLMDs would be welcome)

I guess I'm just looking for advice.

Should we give an llmd in Los Angeles a try for a while, or should we just go ahead and travel to see a top LLMD elsewhere? We don't want to mess around with this illness - we've had enough - the past 2 years have been a nightmare.

Sorry to ramble, it's difficult for me to collect my thoughts. Thanks in advance for any advice, PMs, etc [Smile]

I also wanted to tell you to hang in there. Six months into treatment and I was completely dependent on my husband, too. I am well today .... very, very close to complete remission (but not quite).
