Hi, for anyone with GP I was wondering if anyone has tried Gastrotab, Segratax or Astratin? Do they work? Also, has anyone used Alpha Lipoic Acid to help with GP. Thanks, jessielee

- 3 years ago I was diagnosed with intractable Gastroparesis. Saw Drs locally and at Albany Medical Center.
The docs had tried all the usual GP drugs with no luck. I spent all my time in a fetal position, crying.
When I reached the point of refusing to eat or drink, they decided to refer me to a specialist in Lebanon NH.
He put me on Domperidone, a drug I have to order online from New Zealand.
If I stay on it I'm able to eat w/o major problems, just moderate nausea, pain & regurgitation.
I also need to take Nexium 2x daily, Miralax and many vitamin supplements.
The pharmacy doesn't require a Rx and has other meds available. PM me if you'd like the website.

I have gastroparesis due to the illness as well.
I have found that Ativan helps with it some. My LLMD says a lot of people's sympathetic nervous systems are in over drive with this illness and it needs to be calmed down.
When the sympathetic nervous system is going nuts, it will stop or reduce digestion motility.
Alpha Lipolic Acid hasn't helped me, nor has any of the pharmaceutical drugs. Havn't tried any of those that you listed...

What has helped me is taking HCL with pepsin (650mg) with meals. I have Bells Palsy of the gut which can be an underlying cause of gastroparesis.
When that happens a lot of us are deficient in HCL the first line of defense against bacteria. I also think parasites can be an issue when this happens.
I started taking humaworm for parasites and this has also helped with my swallowing issues and my neuro issues.
I take the humaworm with applesauce and mix the HCL a little at a time with my food so it is not so bitter. Both of these protocols have helped me a lot.
