Anyone take Biaxin/Plaquenil and Bactrim together ever?
Biaxin/Plaquenil/Rifampin together?
I'm trying to dream up combinations here. lol. I've got all these Rxs, but not enough direction so I'll look for guidance.
If you used these two combinations, any pulsing included?
I guess I need to create some scenarios and call my LLMD AGAIN for approval. Somehow, someway, I'll find a reasonable solution.

I took a Biaxin, Plaquenil, Bactrim combo.
But - I cannot tolerate Plaquenil (detox issue, I think) - so we took that out of the mix.
At the time - Biaxin and Bactrim ended up being my favorite combo, because after the herx - I felt better and better.
Also took Rifampin and Doxy together.
(But again - detox issues nixed that because I can't detox Rifampin, so had to stop.)

Yep - crazy when the patient is leading the way in creating a treatment plan.
It was a good combo. I thought it knocked down some bart symptoms very well.

I took Biaxin and Rifampin together and messed up my liver. It did wonders for my Lyme (and probably Bart) and I don't regret it. I read of some sort of interaction between these two drugs where the Biaxin can cause the Rifampin to stay in your system longer (and hence the Liver issues?).
I hope to do Rifampin again believe it or not.
I also love Biaxin and felt that did a good job for me. My Dr. had me on Biaxin with Amox. and after about 9 or 10 months I added Samento and that worked well, too.
Bactrim/Biaxin sounds like it could work well - but I don't know a lot about Bactrim. Are you working with Dr. C?

Cactus, I'm not saying my LLMD didn't devise a solid treatment plan. That's not true. It's just when I had to stop several drugs due to side effects/de-tox issues, there was no suggested back-up. Combinations weren't used either, but it could be because the LLMD is trying to evaluate reactions and will re-assess later. My gut tells me to never stop attacking Bb and that's what Rifampin solo therapy does. Not right.
My only issue is I expect doctors to say definitely this is the next drug of combo of drugs to take when you fail a specific protocol. Seems reasonable AND SAFE!! Docs certainly should spend whatever time necessary to do this and it should be an included service. It's the 'core' of a treatment plan.
I don't want to stop treating Babs in some way because I think it's a possibility I have it. I don't know, but.... I try to hit the strongest possibilities.
I'll keep plugging. That's all I can do.

I bet Rifampin/Biaxin would do a job on your liver. I am very concerned about the frequency of liver tests too if I took Rifampin. I am not comfortable with that once per 4 months at all based on what others say here.

I loved the biaxin/bactrim combo. It really helped me. I have been off abx for 9 months now and doing really well. The following were the combos I took:
Adding the bactrim to the combo my last 4 months of treatment, really helped get me to a new level. Definitely try it- I loved the biaxin/bactrim together.

Biaxin is KILLING my neck. lol. I feel like I had my neck bashed in the last 2 days at full dose. Oh well, no pain no gain.
Other problems are better though so I'll take a trade-off.

Like I said in another post, I spent two years on that and all my symptoms but joint pain were nearly completely gone. Many have vanished and never returned.
But Bactrim can be dangerous. Be very careful about all instructions--diet, SPF 30, no alcohol, probiotics, plenty of water, green tea, detox supplement.

I would not push Biaxin if you are really getting a horrible feeling as opposed to a herx. It is not for everyone.
What is it that your trying to treat? it would depend on what you are wanting to treat. I only saw you say Babesia?

Chaya, I have no idea about instructions with Biaxin. My LLMD gave me none at all. Green tea? SPF 30? It seemed like they Rxed it just to give me something - not for specific reasons that were told to me.
My LLMD never said officially or wrote anything down on paper saying I have Babesia or Bartonella from a clinical perspective. I kind of feel like I'm treating cos from an experimental basis.
Springshowers, I've been on Biaxin before along with Ceftin. I had some herxes, but it was tolerable. I don't feel so good today though. I had 3-4 decent days. Good times ALWAYS come to an end. Posted by peacemama (Member # 17666) on :
Glad to know I'm not alone.
I bring my wish list to my LLMD and she seems to like knowing what other people (especially children) are on out in the larger world.
I think we help educate our LLMD's when we bring them the information. I'm sure they tire of it, too.
