My doc and I are discussing a combo with tinidazole and EITHER minocycline OR a marcolide like biaxin or zithromax.

I remember reading here somewhere that tinidazole interacts bad with some antibiotics, but I can't remember which ones. Does anyone know if tini can contraindicate with mino or zithro or biaxin? Thanks.

Heh Dan,

I took Tindazole with minocycline, and Biaxin. I just pulsed it one week a month.

Hope it works well for you.I felt it was a good drug

thanks ticked........does biaxin and mino interact badly?

FOr that matter, I guess another question is...WHICH antibiotics interact badly out of all of the common ones? Thanks.

I've taken both mino and tindamax with zithromax (separately)...But I've never heard of any interactions between all 3.

I pretty sure anything you can take with zith, you can also take with biaxin.

The Drug Interactions Checker on drugs.com is really helpful. You can enter in all the meds you're considering, and then check for any interactions.

Do you have an LLMD? He or she should know the interactions of thes basic Lyme abx.

If you can't work with an LLMD, then we will try to help you come up with a good plan! Have you been tested and/or evaluated for co-infections?

What dosage were you taking?

I find it is helpful to also educate yourself on possible side effects of all meds you are on.

When I first began re-treating at the end of January, my doc started me on Mino and Tindamax.

Wow, after only a few days, I developed some very painful oral ulcers. A new one for me for certain. So, I had to stop both meds for 2 weeks to let them clear my system.

Then restart one at a time to try and figure out which was causing the problem. As both can have the same side effect.

Just a head's up from experience.

I started them at different times

First three months Biaxin 500mg twice a day

Mepron twice a day, 750 mg

Tindamax 500mg twice a day

Two months later I added the minocycline 100 mg twice a day.

I agree with the others , read all about your drugs, I always read the pharmacy hand-out, and when I feel a new symptom, then I re-read them

I also pulsed the mepron three weeks on , then the week of tindamax, the back on mepron.

Melanie, you are one strong girl. You have been through a lot. I sure do admire you.

Sorry, if I didnt make it clear , took biaxin, mino, every day, with either the mepron or tindamax, which ever I was pulsing.

That was the first 5 months, then added others.

Goodness I am sorry I am not being more clear.xoxox

Awww, thanks so much for the most kind words Ticked. That is very gracious of you. I think we all do what we must to try to get through this, ya know? I just feel so blessed, because I know all too well, that things can always be worse. [Smile] M

ticked-offinNc, how did that combo work for you? Was it good? Thanks.

It worked pretty good. The first six months were hard because I had been sick for so long.

I believe adding Plaquneil after almost a year did the most good for me.

I plateaued and my LLMD refered me for IV antibiotics, but you know I dont know what I would do if I finally got a brain, it has been so long. It would scare the heck out of my kids.

The hard part is the ups and downs. You have a time where you actually remember what you were like. Then you herx again. You just have to keep going, with your focus on the prize.

It is just like Melanie said, you find strength, by reminding yourself others have it harder.

You have to remember that the hard time wont last forever. Its like when your baby keeps eating the dogs food, or plays in theie water dish.

Either you move the dish(figure out how to make yourself feel better) or you waith until they out grow that phase. Either way you get through it, because you have to.

You will do well, you will beat it, and when you feel like you need support, you will come here, because everyone here knows exactly how you feel. And best of all they are loving and caring people.
