This is something I am going to ask my doctor about. It is not something he has prescribed.

Amoxicillin, augmentin, biaxin, plaquenil, flagyl, mepron

The amoxicillin and augmentin would be for the spirochetes.

The biaxin and plaquenil would be for L-form and for babesia.

The flagyl would be for cyst form and for babesia.

The Mepron would be for babesia.

The amoxicillin, augmentin, and flagyl would be pulsed, 5 days on, 9 days off.

The Biaxin, plaquenil, and Mepron would be taken all the time.

Does this sound like too much?

I would take Probenecid instead of Augmentin because it makes the Amoxy penetrate better.

I would wait on the Flagyl till you are stable on the combo.

I did that protocol, minus the flagyl. Plaquenil is also a cyst buster.

I'm not a doctor, just passing on my experience. BTW, I was on 2500 mg amoxy three times daily (took a peak level test to see if dosage was correct and slowly moved up to that dose). I took 2 tsp twice daily of the Mepron.

Holy moly...you think a LLMD would actually Rx all that at once? I couldn't even imagine. My old LLMD would've thought I was certifiably insane asking for that. [Smile]

Mine did.

If you wanted to cut one out, you probably don't need both the amoxicillin and the augmentin. I would take whichever one of the two helps you the most.

If you can handle all of it though, don't let me stand in your way! Just please be safe about it all and make sure there are no interactions, and get monthly labs done to check liver, etc.

Also do the eye checks for Plaquenil.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you don't know that augmentin and amoxicillin are the same drug (augmentin just has something else added to decreasre resistance)...

I know that augmentin is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate. Burrascano says

that when you want the clavulanate from the augmentin, you also should take straight

amoxicillin, because if you took enough augmentin to get a high enough amoxicillin,

you'd be getting too much clavulanate.

It does not sound that unusual, but the amox/augmentin seems like a hassle. My son was started on a similar rx list after his first LLMD visit - ceftin, azith, plaquenil, artemisinin and malarone.

I am not sure that adding the Flagyl would cover much that is not already covered.

Janice, What abx are you currently taking (if any)?

I know it's hard to afford an LLMD especially since most don't take insurance. Perhaps you could consult with an LLMD (there are quite a few good ones in CA!)who would work with your local doctor, so you'd only have to see him/her a few times a year?

My body could never have handled that much medication at once. Good gracious!!!
