I'm afraid I'm going to go bald before my doctor figures out why my hair is falling out.
Horomones are being tested. Testosterone was low. Thyroid was normal. Waiting on results of DHEA-s and Cortisol.
I've been taking biaxin, tindamax, and bactrim most recently. Can any of these antibiotics cause hair loss?
A couple of people have posted that biaxin caused them hair loss, but when I google the side effects of biaxin, nothing is ever mentioned about hair loss. Can this drug actually this?
Please help. I'm very distressed about this.

I was losing hair on Biaxin and Bactrim too, but I couldn't find any mention of that as a side effect either.
But I just found out that antibiotics can cause low Biotin levels which can cause hair loss.
The low testosterone could definitely be causing your hair loss...can your doc prescribe a bioidentical testosterone supplement for you? You can get it made by a compounding pharmacy.
My testosterone level was actually on the high side, so I am about to start compounded estrogen/progesterone. I don't think that will help with my hair loss, but hopefully it will help with the fatigue.
Hope you get to the bottom of what is causing your hair loss.

I lost alot of hair.....it was from lyme and not the medication.
Not to worry as it has all grown back. Evening primrose oil may be helpful.

When they tested your Thyroid did they test your antibodies? I had normal thyroid results but I had Hashimotos disease(autoimmune thyroid disease) the whole time.
A lot of symptoms mirror lyme so its worth checking and doctors often miss it.
I know how upsetting it is .....seems so silly when you have other serious things but its something that causes me much grief.

I've been losing my hair for 9 years and have yearly doctor visits to prove it! EVERY yr I went in to my GP with complaints of fatigue, hair loss, dizziness and a host of other complaints. He always did tests and said I was fine. I was just diagnosed with Lyme 10 days ago. I think it is the Lyme that causes the hair loss.
LauraLyme, I am encouraged your hair grew back. Was that after your started antibiotic treatment for Lyme?
