Ok,
I am very upset right now. I called the dr yesterday morning to see if they'd received my Igenex results yet.

Finally the nurse called and left a message and said the dr has to review my results and that they'd call after that.

Well today I called again this morning and left a message for someone to call me back. I waited at home all day waiting for the call.

NOTHING. So I called again just about 15 mins ago and finally go in touch with the dr.

She acted really weird! She was talking really fast and explaining to me how busy she was etc...

and then real akwardly she said "your labs didn't reveal anything different than your first lab from Quest"

She said I had the exact same reactive bands as I did on the Quest lab.

She said the labs were identical. I'm sorry but I don't believe it!!

First of all I know that Igenex results don't say "REACTIVE" and she stated that it said Reactive on the same exact bands.

She acted really weird and wasn't answering my questions good.

She said she had to do some researching and talk to some colleagues about it....

I think she is totally just throwing my Igenex results out the door and not considering them.

I highly doubt that my Igenex were identical to Quest.

Then she quickly changed the subject and told me to go with the plan to see Internal Medicine and started talking about me taking Ridalin for my fatigue.

When I got off the phone I was upset. I decided to call her back and tell her I will be there tomorrow to pick up a copy of the lab.

She didn't answer.. so I left a message for her to call me back and that I would be there tomorrow for a copy.

Of course she hasn't called me back.

So my hubby and I are going to go there tomorrow and demand copies of my lab.

I don't think my dr is there tomorrow so I'll be really upset if they can't find the lab.

AM I over reacting to this or does this seem strange?

Mabye she was telling me the truth about the IDENTICAL bands, but I just don't believe it.

Thanks guys,

You have to have the DR sign a copy release from the office, post the results here, and find an LLMD.

My GP left me a phone message "your results don't reveal anything unusual, come in and let's talk about some anti-depressants". Meanwhile I have several lyme bands, and positive for co infections from IgeneX verified by a well known LLMD on these boards.

In short, get your results and get away from those people.

Sorry you have to deal with this Bull. My doc tried

to tell me I was neg. Went to get test and it was

positive by Igenex. We had a peaceful argument as

to the whys and hows and I will not be going back.

I would get copies of every test they have done

and take them to the LLMD of your choice.

Call your doctor's receptionist, ask them to send you a copy of your tests results (and anything else you want) . . . and find yourself a doctor who can best assess your case.

Have you looked into finding a LLMD yet?

The IgeneX results could be the same as your Quest results. Just because it's IgeneX doesn't mean it's going to show tons of reactive bands or be that much better than the other tests. Yes, IGeneX IS a better lab, but that doesn't mean their test will always show MORE reactive bands for everyone.

My IgeneX showed the same reactive bands that LabCorp showed (a few times) on my tests... So it's not impossible for it to show the same exact bands and I wouldn't worry about it. What really matters is what bands your Quest -- and now, according to the doc, your IgeneX -- test showed as reactive?

"Demanding" isn't the way to handle anything and expect good outcomes. The doctors are all very busy from what I have seen as well and you may have caught her at a bad time. I'd remain calm and get more information.

The test results are your, you paid for them.

Of all the doctors my family and I have seen, not a single one knew how to intrepret the results.

So all you can do is get a copy, and post
them here.

I am sorry , it really gets frustrating at times, especially when you dont feel well.

You will feel better when you see a LLMD, they understand.

Right now you are doing the best you can, and doing a good job.

Have your doctor give you a copy of your results as well

As anything else in your chart like your blood work, etc.

You can post them here for interpretation.

If your doc has to confer with someone else,

Then clearly she doesn't understand the results.

No problems there. Just go there.

Tell them you want a copy of your Igenex WB.

You don't even have to see the doctor.

The receptionist and/or nurse can handle that part for you.

Hugs,

Geneal

The bands could be the same. But please come back and let us know what they are once you get them back. Do you know which one(s) showed up on Quest?

Good luck! I hate not having my test results in my hands. I feel like they are mine, why are they being hidden from me? It's even worse with things like ultrasounds, MRI's, etc. I don't care if they are worried I'll misinterpret, it just seems wrong to trick me into thinking I shouldn't see them!

So anyways.....

You can still have Lyme with negative test results, as I'm sure you are aware. There are people also that will test positive in PCR, but still have a negative Western Blot! They are just not super-accurate.

I only got positive Western Blots after I had treated for awhile. Sometimes it takes years for the bands to show up, if at all.

Oh, also, maybe your doctor is not counting the "IND"s from Igenex, so please let us know if you have any of those too!!!! If I had a low immune response, I would pay close attention to those!

Get a copy of the results. Just call and tell them you want them to mail you a copy. My understanding is, this is something you are entitled to.

My non-LLMD told me my IGeneX was negative and I had 8 bands positive. She did not understand how to read the test.

I agree with everyone else who encouraged you to get a copy of your Igenex and Quest reports.

I think by law you are entitled to a copy of them.

If your doctor's office misplaced them as you suspect might happen, advise them to call Igenex while you wait and have the results faxed immediately.

1st, REQUEST; do NOT DEMAND anything; honey is better than acid vinegar.

2nd, you must sign a RELEASE OF INFORMATION in order to get copies of your records.

GET A COPY OF EVERYTHING IN YOUR MEDICAL REOCRDS THERE... med. dictation notes, tests, labs, xrays, ...everything!!

yes, i know drs. are asked to sign saying YES you can have these reports.

you PAID FOR IGENEX tests; they are yours; don't let them charge you for them.

to get copies of your entire med. records there, you might hhave to pay.

i pay $15/yr. to my local clinic for my records [Smile] good luck.

Thanks guys.
I'll go in tomorrow and see about getting a copy of the lab results. It's a military clinic so I shouldn't have to pay for the copy.

Igenex doesn't state "REACTIVE" and "NONREACTIVE"on their results do they? She said it stated "REACTIVE" on the exact same bands.

I was IGG POSITIVE to IGG 30 and 41.

I'll let you all know how it turns out tomorrow. I'm nervous!

Thanks again.

No, my Igenex test did not use the terms "reactive" or "non-reactive".

I had + - or IND.

I second that. Their web site states the possibles. And reactive is not in their vocabulary.

this brings back several unpleasant personal experiences with so-called Drs. crap like this delayed my diagnosis and treatment. i am better now (symptom free) no thanks to Drs of this type.

i suggest you sign a Medical Records Release form to get copies of your entire file (consult/case notes, lab test results and studies) and don't look back.

technically, they can fax you the form and you can fax it back. IgeneX copies should be no charge.. fees may apply for copies of the entire file.

FYI.. i made a habit of signing release forms upon arrival at any Drs office to eliminate the fuss. i would also add my treating Drs to the list in case they needed something i didn't have (LLMD's, Chiro and GP).

you can also do a release directly with IgeneX. i also add a second Dr to Requisitions at LabCorp and Quest so results are not stuck at one place.

Ritalin for fatigue? antidepressants and the BS advertised between 3-7pm may provide temporary relief but will only prolong Lyme symptoms so beware!

you are not overreacting. getting Dx'd is an urgent matter but only a fraction of the battle. do what your gut finds appropriate.. best of luck!

If you only had band 30 and 41 you can get a 30/31 confirmation test by IGeneX to tell if that band 30 is from Lyme or from something else.
