Does anyone know how long it takes to feel some benefit from low dose naltrexone after taking it? Is it like minutes, hours, days??? The info online about Revia (which is not low dose) says 7 to 10 days, but it assumes you're an alcoholic or a narcotics addict.

I'm thinking a few weeks, but not sure. I wouldn't expect it to be hours, and I"m basing that assumption on how herbs that affect the immune system work (like eleutherococcus/Siberian Ginseng, which generally needs a few weeks before your immune improvements/changes stabilize)

I've been on it 3 nights now, but would assume it would take alittle while if you were going to get any effects from it.
Would be interesting to hear from ppl whom it helped and how long it took.

I think it could take up to six months.
Ive been on it for about 2 months now.
Im just noticing effects and had to start taking it at 5 PM because if I take it at night I dont sleep!!!

Theoretically, you could feel different soon after, from the boost of endorphins.
I'm guessing it would take at least 5 hours or so after the dose though, because as I understand, LDN works by blocking endorphin production for a few hours (3 or 4 maybe?), then after that, your body produces MORE endorphins, so maybe then you would feel a little boost in mood or better sense of wellbeing.
But, if you are waiting for the immune system to heal/change, and thus that heal your body, I would think that could take longer.
I have noticed stronger herxes while on LDN, but since I've stopped and started it, I can't remember how long that took.

My doc said that it could take a month or two. I tolerated it well and worked my dosage up pretty quickly. Started noticing a reduction in pain after about a month, month an a half.

Some people with Crohn's notice a difference right away, and then will see saw between better and worse for months. Then it will start to stabilize.
The boost or normalizing of the immune system causes bacterial die off and this can make you feel better and sometimes worse. The only thing you should notice is that something is different. Either for better or worse. This just means it is doing the job.
It takes months to properly assess if it is helping. It is a relatively slow treatment, as its effect is indirect, using the immune system to correct problems instead of a direct approach like antibiotics. The good part is your immune system is generally better at at killing bacteria than anything else.

I've been on 50mg daily for several years, for another off-label use. When I first took it I noticed a difference in my behavior within a few hours. I didn't know it was used for Lyme.

50 mg is used for other purposes, but that large a dose would not work well for immune system problems.
4.5 mg would be the most anyone would take for autoimmune problems.

I was wondering this too....how to know if it is doing something. In Dr S's book he mentions a patient who called him excitedly after a week saying something was different.
