hi everybody i am wondering- for those who have "beaten" their infections- how long did it take to recover from the muscle and tendon pains? how long did it take to recover from all of the muscle atrophy?
i went to germany in jan/feb...i supposedly cleared lyme and am free of many of my symptoms i had pre-germany.
but i still have pains in my muscles, especially shoulders. they are supposedly from the tendons. i ramped up strengthening exercises and swimming but am not where i hoped i'd be by now.
i apparently have a bit of chronic tendonitis that comes and goes. and i can't seem to gain muscle mass, at least not quickly at all.
yesterday, a prolotherapist that i just started seeing, said i am about 15-20 pounds underweight. sure, eating a lot can give me a bit of fat, but i want my muscles back!
on the side, i also still have some heart fluttering/ but not really fluttering, more like occasional tachycardia. my magnesium levels were really low a month ago- 3.1! so about 3 weeks ago i had a mag + other minerals and vitamins iv and that seemed to help with that.
but i don't know if the muscle pains and weakness are from the mag problem (i imagine that would be suggested here).
i am hoping for the best, for all of us.
thanks in advance,
john

Personally, I don't think the pain is going to just go away. I think there is damage and you need to help your body fix that damage.
I think the IVs will help. Not just the magnesium, but having the other nutrients will help your body heal.
You may also need to reduce your body's inflammation. I was recently diagnosed with myositis, which is muscle inflammation.
As far as building muscle mass, you might want to test your amino acid levels. You won't build muscle if your amino acid levels are low because you can't process protein.

thanks anie i see my llmd next week and will ask to get the amino acid levels tested. i don't think my muscles are so inflamed- they are not tight...it is really mostly tendon pains. the muscle pain is intermittent, sometimes they don't hurt at all. exercise helps the pain big time. when i don't exercise, they can get random zings of pain. i will see what the llmd can suggest. i am getting prolotherapy next wednesday into some tendons so i can hopefully build them up, and start ramping up the weight i lift. i cannot do anything to fight inflammation while undergoing prolotherapy treatment.
