Having vibrations in head, face, and neck, primarily at night time or during sleep. Has anyone determined which bacteria causes this or found a treatment that makes it go away? It is very annoying. Rifampin has helped some, but I can't seem to eliminate it.
Thanks for any advice.

Will,
What you describe has been something I've worked very hard to resolve. So, nearly everything I've done is here. Except for GABA. Some people find GABA to help but I have tried many times and it is nothing but disaster for me, even in tiny amounts.
If you do try a supplement with GABA, just start very slowly with very small amounts. It's best as part of a formula such as "Stress Arrest" or "Night Rest". Source Naturals makes one of those; Designs for Health makes the other. Both are good companies and good formulas - just not for me.
-----------
[For anyone with this "wired" stuff - Just to be sure: absolutely no artificial sweeteners or MSG - or caffeine - in your diet and you also avoid food additives and alcohol. Supplements that are intended to "boost" anything are best avoided. Support supplements are different.] Moving on from there . . .
-----
Sorry that I can't comment on the antimicrobial part of this. Of course, treating the infection is key. However, along the way, there are many other things that can help relieve this sort of symptom. Here are things that I have found helpful and safe:
An excellent neck pillow . . . try to get one that does not off-gas from new foam. A rolled up towel may work well but also ask your body-care professional.
---
For the the neuro-hyper-excitatory stuff:
MAGNESIUM is the best helper (at least 1,000 mg a day and even up to 2,000 mg a day, sometimes. It can be taken to bowel tolerance and then back down a bit from that. Calcium will need to be raised to balance and that is also calming to the nerves).
FISH OIL, too, is vital.
SKULLCAP (SCULLCAP) is a wonderful herbal helper to calm the overwhelmed NMDA receptors that "wire" or excite nerve endings. It is only good as a tincture and looses its effectiveness in capsule or raw herb form.
ADRENAL SUPPORT is also imperative.
----
Along with treatment for the infections and specific nutrition and anti-inflammatory supplements, hands-on work can be very helpful.
Cranial-Sacral therapy can help, IF gentle. With lyme, there are frequently cranial nerves that are constricted. Also, the lymph tissue can get clogged. Cranial-Sacral can help clear some of that, as can massage or other modalities.
You can find a MD, DO, PT or LMT near you who is trained in the Upledger Technique of Cranial-Sacral Therapy.
Upledger Technique is a gentle, but effective, approach. Never let anyone do a sudden twist of your neck or spine. You can be sure that those trained in this technique will not ``snap and crack'' or ``twist and shout'' -
Anyone do does "cranial-sacral" work should have special training. Some massage therapists or PT's may say they do this. If so, inquire as to the exact training and style and research that before proceeding.
The Alexander Technique is a way to feel better, and move in a more relaxed and comfortable way...the way nature intended. An Alexander Technique teacher helps you to identify and lose the bad habits you have built up over a lifetime of stress and learn to move more freely.
. . . The links at (the site) provide a comprehensive guide to all Alexander Technique resources worldwide. . . .

Rejuvenative Yoga
Tai Chi
Qi Gong
Humming, Singing - or music therapy.

Going Gluten-Free helps me tremendously as gluten can really mess up nerve cells in my brain - so can perfumed products. So, going Scent-free may also be helpful. I also need to avoid TV or computer for an hour or more before bedtime if I want to keep my nerve cells from hopping around.
Gentle music has a nice effect to help shift the brain waves into the calmer streams.
Scullcap tincture is an excellent and extremely reliable nervine. It relaxes and strengthens the nervous system in a manner that can be felt within thirty minutes.
B12 is great nerve soother.

I was getting the vibrations all over but especially in my legs and arms. I would notice them all day but they seemed to be the worst at night.
The one thing that has made them almost go away is Mineral Chi by Nature's Sunshine. If I stop taking it, they come back. Even missing one dose can make them come back. ugh! Actually, I'm just glad to have found something to make them almost go away. I take it 2X's a day, sometimes 3. I make sure I never run out.
I've been told that lyme is the culprit but I don't think anyone knows for sure. I personally think they feel like little muscle contractions but I really don't have a handle on what they are.
I had the symptom briefly many years ago, before I knew I had lyme. I didn't get the symptom again until the 2nd year into treatment for lyme and buddies.
Many of the enzymes that are needed for detox require minerals. Pure speculation but I think it's possible that the vibrations are caused by a lack of minerals for the muscles because they are being used up to deal with the toxins.
Hope you get some relief.

Are the vibrations you are referring to like internal jitters? I wonder b/c that is what I have. It's like the inside of my body is shaking rapidly, but it is not visible on the inside.
This occurs all over.
Thanks.

This flares up from time to time. All I can say is time seems to heal it. As your treatment progreses and you do some detox, This annoying symptom will pass too.

Indeed, Leelee, this is what I'm talking about. Sometimes it's like my head is on a low-powered generator. Other times the vibrations coincide with my heart beating. It is one symptom that I just can't seem to shake.

I have it in my left leg and it can extend over my right side and up to the heart. It is getting horrible if there is any mold in the air. It is getting really horrible when I take enzymes or Vitamin C or Mg. Other than in the post I tolerate Gaba really well and it helps with brain functions. I am so thankful for this post, I thought only I have this problem.

Do the vibrations affect your vision?
Posted by karenl (Member # 17753) on :
In my case it does not affect my vision, but mold affects my vision.

Interesting you should ask that. I used to have internal vibrations....usually while in bed...often as I was going to sleep or waking up.
Come to think of it, I haven't had any in a LONG time. I have beaten back HHV-6, EBV and VZV. Maybe one of those was the cause.....
I'm still working on enterovirus and Cpn.

Peggy,
Vibrations affecting vision can be nystagmus, twitching of the eyes (due to inner ear signals) which may not be visible except to an eye doctor or an Inner Ear specialist with special equipment.
Nystagmus is very common with lyme/TBD and can get better with treatment. There are other causes, though. An inner ear specialist who is also lyme literate is good go consult.
I used to have those all the time....new LLMD said it was an irritated/inflamed CNS. IV has helped tremendously.

Is your irritated/inflamed CNS due to Bartonella? I am trying to figure out what is causing mine and I blame so many things on Bart.
Were you on oral abx before going on an IV? My LLMD has mentioned in passing the possibility of me going on IV and I would like to do so if it will help me more.

IV rocephin did not stop my vibrations.

Keebler,
My son has pseudo-tumor cerebri and has an LP shunt. I'm pretty sure that's the cause of visual vibrations. He does see an ophthalmologist every 6 months.
He does have vibrations in his body.

Stir the packet in warm water. Great for leg cramps as well!

If I am reading the above magnesium supplement correctly, it provides 150 mg of Magnesium. The recommended amount is 400 mg I believe. So, you would want to take more magnesium if you are relying on that for your source...

Timaca, You are probably correct! This reccommendation was only for the immediate relief of muscle cramping and buzzing. (He also mentioned that this form of Mg is also helpful for menstrual cramps.)
