OK here I am again. I've received my Igenex WB results which are:

IgM CDC/Igenex NEG

30+, 31+++, 34IND, 41IND, 83-93IND

IgG CDC NEG Igenex POS

30+, 31++++,41++

My Quest WB showed REACTIVE bands at IgG 30 and 41.

So, I thought after I got my Igenex results it would make things easier.... well it hasn't!

My GP told me that my tests do not reveal anything and she highly doubts it's lyme. She wants me to see Internal Medicine.

I've already seen 2 neuros, a Rheum, and ENT. in which all tests done are totally normal. Mri's normal.

I'm not doubting Igenex, but how are their results so much more POS than other labs? I've never seen anyone that didn't show anything on Igenex.

I guess I really want to trust these results, but part of me is worried that it's wrong.

What are the chances of these results showing that this really is lyme?

Also what does it mean to have band 31 so ++++? Does that indicate something? I've heard 31 indicates a long standing infection? Is this right?

Also I've never had the vaccine so it wouldn't be from that.

I went ahead and made an appt with a lyme specialist and they squeezed me in on July 8th.

What do you all think? Really, what are my chances that this reveals lyme?

I appreciate everyones support and help!! It is truly appreciated!

kareamber.

Hi! Your results are significant.

It is true that band 31 can cross react with viruses, but it is important to note that your IND results on bands 34 and 83-93 are lyme specific bands.

Band 30 and 31 can be confirmed by an epitope test but your LLMD may not feel that is necessary since you have other lyme specific bands.

Do not listen to your GP.

Igenex has superior testing methods and tests for more bands than other labs....

My LLMD says that an IND result on a lyme specific band is like a fingerprint....it may not be dark, but it is still the same fingerprint.

Read the western blot info on page 7 of Dr B's paper....

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

and also read Dr C's western blot explanation at the top of the board.

You were lucky to get an appt in July. The chances are very good that you have lyme.

Remember that lyme is really a clinical diagnosis...it is not based on a lab test.

Your history and symptoms, along with the fact that your other tests are normal is significant.

Then factor in your Igenex WB and it sure looks like lyme.

When other health care providers tell you that you do not have lyme, it can make you doubt yourself.

However, 99% of Dr's know nothing about lyme recognition, diagnosis or treatment.

You need that LLMD evaluation....all those other Dr's have not been able to help you one bit.

All the best to you!

hi
so sorry for you pain and anxiety as i know that the wait is long enough to find out and not to get definiate results is tough. i am no expert but from what i understand band 31 is a lyme band and you have 4+ which is almost rare. (means really strong) also the ind means that there is something there and your bands 34, 41 and 83-93 are all specific to lyme. i believe the lmd will definitely tell you you have lyme and treat you.

god bless and good luck

So with my super positve band 31 I probably don't need the confirmation test being I had other significant bands? So if my IND's were actual positives, that would make me overall POS right? Sorry...I'm just not really familir with this yet.

Thanks for you input.

It's very simple. You have Lyme.

REad Dr C's Western Blot explanation. If EITHER the IgM or the IgG is positive, you have Lyme!

You have SEVERAL Lyme specific bands. An IND is a weak POSITIVE! Band 83-93 is the DNA of the borrelia bacteria, which CAUSES Lyme!... Does that help?

Lo,
You said you had the same bands as me? How is treatment going for you and what are you taking?
I've got appt with the LLMD on July 8th. SO ready to get the ball rolling. I hope he agrees it is Lyme and starts treatment...
