"Recent studies in both acute and antibiotic refractory, or chronic, Lyme disease have shown a distinct pro-inflammatory immune process.

***This pro-inflammatory process is a cell-mediated immunity and results in

Th1 upregulation. ***

http://wapedia.mobi/en/Lyme_disease_microbiology

Compare with:

"In Lyme disease often (not always) the TH2 (humoral portion of the immune system) is overly active, TH1 is asleep (the cellular immune system)."

http://www.defeatautismyesterday.com/lyme.htm

``He (Dr. K) believes that large doses of Niacin kill Bb and suggests that Dr Hoffer's discovery of niacin for schizophrenia may have more to do with antimicrobial qualities than current orthomolecular beliefs.''

http://www.bipolarodyssey.com/OHM.htm

``Niacin also improves endothelial function and

nitric oxide synthase activity.''

Yup...it is NO.

While we don't agree on which immune pathway is upregulated, we both "see" the cure has to do with NO, nitric oxide.

It is HOW we do this that is critical.

I think we have to downregulate the cytokines via vitamin C and green tea extract WHILE simultaneously restoring the amino acids Bb is depleting.

I think it is going to take a LOT to do so.

Bb is "seeing to it" that NO is downregulated so we have to send TNF alpha and Il1B to soar...

Bb uses an enzyme (arginine deiminase)
to do this:

L-arginine + H2O <-> L-citrulline + NH3(= ammonia!)

Notice it is bi-directional.

L-citrulline can convert to L-arginine -> NO.

Looks like Bb is preventing that from happening.

How to counter brain damaging NH3 that Bb maybe making and using?

Zeolite or lactulose...1st works by binding NH3 and eliminating it via the kidneys...2nd works via binding NH3 and eliminating it via the bowels.

Lactulose is a synthetic sugar.

How to get NO up...naturally to destroy Bb?

Look very closely at the "magic five"...very.

Can NO kill other pathogens? Oh, yea!

May, 2009...

Proof:

Gene Name:
BB0841

EC Number:
3.5.3.6

Organism:
Borrelia burgdorferi B31

Putative Identity:
arginine deiminase

Arginine deiminase is a calcium dependent enzyme.

Since Bb has a PKC inhibitor (calcium activated protein to phosphate transfer), we/Bb can be "assured" Ca will go in the cell to try to counter...

This enzyme participates in arginine and proline

metabolism.

So, if I take a lot of niacin I can get rid of this god awful disease?

Posted by pryorka (Member # 13649) on :

So once again we'd have to leave the country to get treatment if that worked for lyme. No way we'd get anything like that here, drug companies will have the FDA ban such a thing before a single one of those nanoparticles lands on american soil.

Lauren...I had to clarify the above.

Re-read my post.

First...we have to counter the inflammatory cytokines (in the "magic five" list via vitamin C and green tea extract) while...

Pryorka...??? I have the "magic five" on my countertop...I bought them all locally.

I have to use timed release vitamin C in a gelatin capsule so it doesn't cause stomach pains.

I'm experimenting.

Want me to tell you how my Photon 90 infrared machine is impacting a (staph) boil I have?

I'm just beginning to experiment with "light" therapy too.

It's quite amazing.

After high doses of Niacin I can tell a difference in my overall physical being. Not too mention the doc I goto says stay away from statins. My PCP is a mainstream doc, but he understands and tells me the truth, unlike many others. My cholesterol has gone down dramatically with 2000mg of niacin daily. I don't know if niacin is a cure for Lyme, but it is helpful, atleast for me.

Hmmm, ok Marnie, gotcha. I've been taking about 10,000 mg of vitamin C every day for over a year now. I also drink a lot of green tea - 12 bags a day, plus rifing, plenty of salt AND abx.

Was holding my own and doing pretty decent for a while there...but ran out of vitamin C almost 2 months ago and just kept forgetting to buy more.

I've been going straight down hill for the last month and haven't been able to figure out why. Wonder if it's the lack of C...? I WILL buy more tomorrow...I think it's more important than we'll ever know. Thanks Marnie!!!

Wanted to add that I have an appointment with a doc in Texas in 2 weeks that does lazer light therapy. I'm very excited! So...how IS it working on your staph boil?

I'm only taking 1000 mg of vitamin C. Is that why I'm not getting well?

Posted by lymielauren28 (Member # 13742) on :

Hey my friend...I started taking huge doses about a year ago and I have to say I really think it helps. It's hard for me to know what helps and what hurts though, b/c I do so much stuff!

Posted by seekhelp (Member # 15067) on :

Sutherngrl, 6,000 mg of Vit C hasn't helped me. [Smile] I'm not on the other 4 of the Magic 5 yet though. I'm guessing Marnie means like 100,000 mg if Vit C via IV would be better.

Marnie can you list the magic 5 again please?

Posted by Marnie (Member # 773) on :

1.Vitamin C
2.green tea EXTRACT
3.proline
4.L-lysine
5.L-arginine

Arginine makes me a little nervous since most viruses use it to replicate. But it IS needed to make NO (nitric oxide).

I do NOT know the dosages needed OR the timing!!!

But these are mentioned in sooooo many cancer abstracts as being beneficial.

There HAS to be a reason why...

I do NOT have lyme...I'm just seeing how this nutrient COMBINATION effects me.

I am taking ONE timed release vitamin C capsule (500mg), TWO green tea extracts capsules, ONE L-lysine, ONE L-arginine and TWO proline...these are the "serving size"...daily.

I chose timed release vitamin C in a gelatin capsule because regular vitamin C tablets really do a "number" on my stomach (pain).

The combo. does stimulate the bowels a little.

The infrared therapy (using a far less powerful machine - the "Lumen 90" as compared to the more powerful German machine it appears) ...at level #1 for 1 hour is

drawing out the staph...

every day I can push on it and get junk out (like a pimple)...very thick and "curdly", yellow, stinky...

Being staph...I am very careful...alcohol wipes, etc.

The boil, when I applied the infrared "heat", got bigger and bigger over 3 days until I could finally press on it to begin to drain it...a little at a time.

Link to my machine (see a picture):

http://www.yournextwaveaffiliates.com/#Lumen%20Photon0

Sorry for the "graphic explanation"! Being honest and truthful.

I haven't been able to get the core out...yet. It is critical to get the core out.

I apply the pad directly on top of the boil for 1 hour at night while I watch TV.

There are several setting choices...#7 is for inflammation. #1 is for "stimulation". I've been using #1 on the boil.

The machine is set to run for 15 or 30 minutes at each setting. You get to decide.

The LEDs are on a small (sorta) flexible black pad.

It delivers 880nM and/or 650nM wavelengths.

If I've been on the computer too long, I will pop some OmegaBrite (Omega 3) to help my strained bloodshot eyes.

Time to pop some Omega! ;-)

I'm confused, you don't have lyme, then what are treating?, you mention staph.. Do you have Co-Infections?? I read alot of your research, I was under the impression you had lyme and cos, or are you just a lyme researcher.

Also with the Niacin, I get the flush BAD, do you have recommendation of a good no flush Niacin supp, or is the flushing required

Dear Marnie,

I hope these lines find you well. You are soo bright have you done any research on parasite involvement.

If I recall rightly I heard you mention your sister is R/A postitive, so am I.

This is just a thought, but I 100% believe worms & parasites are the problem.

What's your thoughts.

Much Love

Being "older" than many of you here has its advantages. I've seen and experienced and learned a LOT over the years. It has allowed me to be (I hope!) more open minded.

EVERYONE has latent infections (esp. viruses) in their systems. Do we ever truly get rid of the "germs" or do we become microbe hotels with only our own immune system keeping those "naughty" residents locked in their rooms?

I have been researching lyme for about 9 years because I did not understand WHY the many kinds of antibiotics...non stop for 3 years... did NOT cure my sister and why she has continued to have tremendous joint destruction, leg edema, hair loss, etc.

Yes, she was treated for babesia too (though never confirmed it is/was present).

My sister is now "autoimmune" and is off all drugs except Prozac. She does still take some supplements and eats very very healthy. She goes to a local indoor pool to exercise in the water several times a week.

She has "accepted" this diagnosis of "autoimmune" and never wanted to try anything "out of the box" (despite my frequent pleas).

I've had to accept it is HER LIFE and HER DECISION.

But it tears me apart.

When someone here has reported something works (supplement/treatment), I research it and then try it myself to see if I notice any difference.

I also want to report to you what it "feels" like to do a treatment and what I noticed afterwards...forewarn, if nec.

I've done Rife. Several treatments using the most powerful machine and yes, it did indeed clear a VERY common infection but did not clear a toenail fungus which supposedly takes a LOT longer frequency exposure and fungus are very hard to cure. (I'm too scared to let a podiatrist remove my toenail and the topical Rx didn't work. I am not willing to try the oral medicine.)

I've done an ozone sauna, but felt "trapped" even IF I could control the opening of the "cabinet". It was also boring...with nothing to look at except the clock on the wall.

I couldn't tolerate the high temp. needed to "open the pores" so ozone can go in. The white towels at my feet only had a very little "brown" tinge - toxins released.

But I can tolerate a dry heat far infrared sauna...oddly.

Many years ago, I came close to heat stroke while golfing. It was "day one" (girls). I think the previous near-miss heat stroke may impact my ability do deal with MOIST heat extremes.

However people DO adapt to the Florida "climate". It is surprising. I FREEZE when we go back north to see our daughter, her new husband and grandaughter.

Foot "detox pads"...I didn't "feel" a difference. Yes, they changed "color". Is this just a "normal" reaction to our body oils?

I've tried d-ribose to see if it gave ME more energy = nope.

I've taken selenium (careful not to overdose) to see if it would eliminate eye "floaters". It did.

I've listened to CD's...for sleep = they work.
I'm trying a "meditation" CD = feel much more relaxed.

I've taken coconut oil capsules for a yeast infection (3 capsules, 2x/day for 2 days). It worked. (I made the mistake of taking Prioslec *for heartburn* and got a yeast infection. I should have stuck with 1 Zantac and 1/2 hour later 2 Pepto Bismol tablets with some water for the heartburn). I think periodically H. Pylori rears its ugly head or re-exposure? Many years ago, was dx'd "ulcer".

I bought a Soloflex machine and didn't notice any difference re: leg circulation (at times, I've had "restless legs" - as did my dad - did I inherit a vascular problem?). I never could jog more than 1 mile without my legs KILLING me - even when I was young.

We have a far infrared sauna. I like it. My skin feels so smooth and "healthier" after the sauna. I read while in the sauna to pass the time.

I've taken 100mg of MgCitrate + B complex + lecithin every 2 hours for 5 doses per day. The dark circles under my eyes went away after about 4 days and I had more interest in...well...ya know. The "side effect" is frequent trips to the bathroom though.

I've taken OmegaBrite (EPA - Omega 3) for red eyes and it works. My son says it clears his mind (he has Aspergers (ongoing brain inflammation), ADHD (glutamate connections), seizures (triggered by hyponatremia according to his doc), and learning disabilities (B6 implications). I suspect he has a "genetic mistake"...could be a gene called B16 arg/arg.

B6, taken sublingual, we have found can stop a seizure. He takes Epsom salt baths with baking soda a few times a week and it truly does change his "outlook"...feels better and is much "happier". It is mind-blowing what a difference the baths make for HIM!

I sometimes take Pycnogenol and it seems to help a little - lung wise...(We had a period of time here in the spring when the air quality was questionable - extremely dry and very very windy. Everybody was having "allergy" problems.)

Red tide when present in the ocean (= algae overgrowth) can trigger many "allergy" symptoms too. Taking Vitamin C before going to the beach helps.

Two Advil relieve my ongoing back pain - usually (discectomy x2 = practically no disc left (no cushion between the vertebrae) and all that scar tissue = ongoing inflammation and pain). I don't give in...(except for vacuuming and bed making which my "boys" do)and I will still pull weeds and do all the other normal household chores, but I carefully space them out and try not to do too much or my back KILLS me and I have to resort to Tylenol #3 which I do have on hand. I try hard to avoid taking it...don't need that addiction.

Accupuncture...did it before my back surgery years ago...didn't help. The needles were hooked up to a machine to deliver a "charge".

Deep heat treatment before my back surgery (chiro office) years ago...helped for about 1/2 hour. Ice packs were/are more effective - even to this day. I often will simply put an "Ace" ice pack (in a plastic bag)on the couch and lean against it. They are silicone filled, flexible, and I keep them in my freezer.

Reduce inflammation.

Chiro "adjustments"...help. I've done them a few times throughout my life (I'm 60 years young). First time after throwing my neck out as a teen when squeezing a pimple. The chiro quickly adjusted my neck and it was amazing how fast it worked.

Our last home had a "chlorine" pool and spa. We could heat just the spa up to a high temp and it IS muscle relaxing...very. But it was a pain in the neck to maintain.

I prefer our "salt" pool in this home over a "chlorine" pool. Our skin feels much "smoother" and the water just "feels better". I don't know how else to describe it.

Pools are expensive "works of art". I'm usually too busy to take the time. Most pool owners in FL do NOT use them daily...it is a guest "thing to do"...and for re-sale - unless there are young kids in the family who do use them after school and on weekends.

Before moving to FL, I thought I would use a pool every day. No way.

There is always non-stop gardening, cleaning, shopping, cooking (I love to cook and bake), running errands for my elderly mom...and of course...my research...which I love to do.

I will be trying (soon) a hyperbaric chamber now that there is one available very near me. It is expensive to do those treatments (about $100), so I won't be doing many "dives", but will report what it FEELS like and how I responded to it. I'm curious.

There is a natural spring about 1/2 hour south of me and I want to go and experience it. It is supposedly the best in the WORLD. The temperature is constant and it is from a deep artesian well. In Florida...deep is a misnomer...

I love to learn. I would much rather read non-fiction than fiction. For several years, I "signed" at our church (sign language) to hymns with a group of gals. It was a fun way to learn how to sign. It is beautiful to watch and the congregation loved it.

Now I'm going to teach myself how to crochet. I already know how to knit.

I think of this as brain "exercise" which I would MUCH rather do than physical exercise...though I really DO need more physical exercise and SHOULD make the effort to "exercise to the oldies" or use my recumbant exercise bike (in the air conditioning while watching TV).

But I don't. I envy those of you who have more will power to do what is "right" and "healthier".

Once, years ago, I went off ALL dairy products and drank ONLY water (giving up my beloved Pepsi and my morning coffee was really hard) for 3 days.

I felt FANTASTIC.

You would THINK...continue, right?

Ahhh...easier said than done! That can of Pepsi called out to me...and give up ice cream...no way!

When I was 17, I went to a psychic with a girlfriend to have my "cards read". EVERYTHING she told me came true. Yes, I've travelled a LOT, yes, I did marry someone with the initial "W"..yes, I did lose a friend and go to his military funneral...

There are so many things in life that are strange, curious, weird.

I took comparative religion in college. I have a tremendous respect for ALL religions and DO have a faith in God and a life hereafter.

I DO believe in angels and I DO believe that others who have passed before us are still with us. I know this for FACT. I have been given "signs" (as has my sister).

I DO believe that the purpose of life IS to help one another...using whatever "gifts" we have. I accept the reality that it is extremely difficult to LOVE one another, but that does NOT mean we shouldn't HELP one another.

I'd like to learn Tai-chi. It is fascinating.

Our children (girl and boy) both took tae kwon do (self defense). The "moves" and theory behind it is very beneficial physically AND mentally...with a first do no harm drilled into them. Besides self defense, it focuses on
mental and ethical discipline, justice, etiquette, respect, and *self-confidence*.

I'd love to go back to college and take a "fun" course...maybe try (once again) a foreign language...this time, Italian?

I wish I had learned how to read music and play an instrument. Tried piano briefly when I was a kid...didn't like it.

I want to read "90 minutes in Heaven".

Okay...those are some of the things I've done (experienced) and learned and some in MY "bucket list"...

What is in YOUR bucket list?

Which one(s) are YOU going to do?

What are you waiting for?

So Marnie, what is your take on the "autoimmune" diagnosis for your sister? Do you think it is indeed LD?

My sister is NOT RA positive. She was misdx'd strictly on symptoms initially and was given steroids...when in fact she had 2 lyme positive bands...only 2, so her GP said, "No lyme...must be RA."

She is now "autoimmune". Has been on Humira (helped, but did not cure) and Fosamax for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

The difference is:

"Rheumatoid arthritis is a inflammatory disease of the synovium, OA is a non-inflammatory disease of the *cartilage*.

If the cartilage is destroyed (as in OA),the bones of joint can grind against each other causing pain, loss of mobility, deformity and dsyfunction."

When her knees were replaced at a major mid-west hospital, the surgeon said he had never seen such totally degenerated knees and didn't know how she could possibly walk.

Are worms (in us) beneficial? Did we become "too clean" compared to our ancestors?

Are children not playing out in the dirt like years past then putting their hands in their mouths - transmitting beneficial pathogens?

Worth thinking about:

http://autoimmunedisease.suite101.com/article.cfm/parasites_and_the_hygiene_hypothesis

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2569715.stm

http://www.wddty.com/worms-and-dirt-medicine-s-newest-weapons.html

"For example, worm hemoglobin might be used to kill cancerous tumors by starving the tissue of oxygen. Nitric oxide enzymes might be used to treat high blood pressure because nearly everyone with the condition has below-normal levels of the simple gas. And hemoglobin may contain clues for preserving oxygen in tissue damaged by stroke or heart disease.

In a still deeper mystery, hemoglobin exists in parts of the human body other than red blood cells, Dr. Stamler said. Immune cells called macrophages make their own hemoglobin, which may release nitric oxide to help kill bacteria, fungi or other parasites. Some cancer cells also produce their own hemoglobin. No one knows why."

http://www.nytimes.com/1999/10/05/science/thanks-to-a-horrible-worm-new-ideas-on-hemoglobin.html?pagewanted=2

Obviously...there is a LOT we don't fully understand yet.

A "sterile" bowel is NOT a healthy bowel. It is a recipe for disaster. You will not be able to absorb the nutrients to make proteins, neurotransmitters, etc.
