Is everyone here on antibiotics? Was wondering if you use only antibiotics, a combo, or just herb/alternative? Thank you!

i think most here are on antibiotics but some are doing buhner like me for a change.

i used flagyl and biaxin until they trashed my system, but they did an excellent job. the yeast was horrific tho and i ended up taking diflucan for a month to get rid of it. if ain't one thing, it's another.

I have been off abx for 10 months. I use herbs and the Bionic 880 .... now just for maintenance.

I'm not right now. I'm going to try rifing and some alternatives. I plan to use antibiotics though most likely at some point. I had an Erchonia cold Laser treatment with Lyme settings recently, herxed for 4 days and have slowly begun seeing real progress! Even with a lot of stress last week, I haven't backslid.

I'm not hailing it as a cure all yet, after all I've only used it once. We will see though!

Take care,
Ocean

Now dealing with a mild lingering candida issue.

I'm not on antibiotics.

I'm doing the herbal route right now, but that is just until I can find a doctor who will prescribe antibiotics.

So far the herbal route seems to be working, as I am herxing, but I have more confidence in antibiotics than herbs.

But that's more personal feelings than anything.

If you're trying to decide what to do, I'd say do the research, but then pick the route you feel most comfortable with.

If you aren't comfortable with your treatment plan, or don't have confidence in it, you should sit down with your doctor either until you become comfortable with your treatment, or you find another treatment option.

Once again, that's personal opinion. But Lyme is just a funny disease- it's hard to know when you are "better", and if you don't have faith in your treatment, then you'll always have doubts.

Despite every ones feeling about the IDSA, and regardless of their view on chronic lyme, long term anitbiotic use is not the healthiest thing in the world to do, unfortunately is seems to be regarded as best treatment option by ILADs but I have yet to feel any benefits from them, I did 6 weeks of Ceftin 1000mg, 2 weeks of Bactrim, got severe tachycardia, took 2 weeks off and am currently on week 2 of Zithromax 500mg that I am paying 4 bucks a pill for cause my insurance would only cover 6 pills. I am currently waiting on new blood work. All I show is IGG positive for Bart, and of 2 WBs one had band 41 the other had nothing, so lets just say between the lack of herxing and unreliabilty of antibody testing I am not even convinced I have lyme despite fitting into a clinical diagnosis profile. I don't know maybe I am too impatient, I want this to go away like a sore throat in a week, and I am absolutely bewildered by all the stuff I have read in the past few months, the on common thread is alot of people praise the Burracano protocol, but I believe he cured himself with IV rocepherin which isn't an option for the average Joe Six Pack.

I haven't done anything since September. I finished my whole 28 days of I.V. Rocephin and couldn't afford anymore...plus my Lyme doc said I was cured after that! I felt like I could improve on the Rocephin (after all those orals) but it just wasn't long enough. I felt like I needed a year. My doc said we needed to treat my Bart but I couldn't tolerate my Levaquin (tendons) and the Rifampin was horrible.

I had (still have) the Levaquin and Rifampin but I don't want to try it again without a doctor. Problem is, regular doctors don't want a part of it.

I've sat here like a sitting duck while getting progressively worse (from Lyme or whatever this is) since September. I'd give it another go if I could. Just started up with a new doctor but I have a bad feeling about this one.

Losfrwrds,

Unfortunately feeling bad is expected before you feel better. And, lyme isnt cured quickly, to say the least.

Sometimes it is normal that when meds make us feel really bad we want to quit them immediately.

As far as your test results go, many people do not have positive test results. If you read Dr. B's guidelines, you will note it is treated on SYMPTOMS, not test results.

I treated for almost a year, and thank God I did. Im in REMISSION now.

My LLMD did not over prescribe ABX like some do and she monitored me every month with blood tests to make sure I was ok.

I had to payout of pocket also and I was a little skeptical myself, but now Im glad I had the opportunity to take it long term. So far, so good.

Im in remission now. [Smile]

I am on oral antibiotics. Having to take a break

due to sickness. It has helped me and the break has

helped me. I also do alternative treatments,

Coconut oil, OJ with salt, milk thistle, vitamin C, with

the antibiotic but breaking with nothing but

diflucan. I will go back on Tx. Mon.

Thanks for your input! I did some abx but am doing some detox and alternative things now. I'm very torn. I want to kill them but have a hard time detoxing because of phase II detox issues. I think the detox is just as hard on me as the kill though.

I'm sad , scared, and really don't know what to do except keep trying.

I did 4 yrs of antibiotics including 6 mos IV Rocephin. I have been on salt/c since 2005 and occassional herbs. Having great success with it.

I was deathly ill back in 1999, so I might have needed the antibiotics in the beginning,

My wife has used Cumanda and Samento which are natural antibiotics. She has not used them for a long time as they only work appear to kill the spirochete form and there are better ways to do that.

She only uses our Rife machine and it is keeping the disease under control. No cure yet, but she has a 95% normal life.

It seems that most try the antibiotic approach first. Helps most people as it is the simpler approach to understand and use in the beginning for our culture who is raised on big pharma.

Even Dr.K, with his phenominal natural protocols, will prescribe antibiotics for some cases of lyme and co-infections. They are effective, but are not good for our total body.

Antibiotics helped me kill the co-infections. Now I do only natural treatments. And have learned that after the co-infections are addressed, it is easier to see the other things besides lyme to address.

Specifically candida, parasites, metals, chemicals, and body dysregulations that may have been there way before lyme and co!

Also taking the abx, no natter what probiotic you use, will always have the negetive effect on your intestinal integrity causing mal-absorption and other dysfunctions. Know that you must address that now and after your treatment, especially with antibiotic use, to continue the healing and prevent other problems in the future.

This is why I now think of my lyme diagnosis and treatment as a gift of healing. I had other things going south...way before the lyme and co-infections problems that I was completely unaware of. Treatment helped me identify and then address the underlying issues. I am still addressing them. But lyme is not an issue now for me.

started tx in Dec. '07 with oral antibiotics and supplements.

Aggressive iv antibiotics May '08- Oct'08 with supplements.

Nov. '08- present oral antibiotics and supplements

Lots of probiotics and infrared sauna use. I am keeping my head above water w/ yeast issues with diet, prescriptions, supplements, and luck.

I am SO much better then before treatment started, but have a ways to go.

I have not taken a break from antibiotics yet.
This is working for me...

Good luck with your treatment,
wantabe

Those with good luck with Rife - what is that and how much does it cost? I will search this site also.

valzunk - I took abx for 5 years straight and another 2 years off and on before going into remission. I'M VERY GRATEFUL FOR HAVING ANTIBIOTIC (ABX) TREATMENT AVAILABLE TO ME AS I'M SURE IT SAVED MY LIFE!

Get yourself on a proven treatment plan and don't give up. There is light after all the darkness.
