Is anyone using flexeril for sleep? My LLMD thinks it will help me since I don't sleep through the night.
If you are what dose do you take? I have tried twice to use it, starting at 2.5 mg. I took it last night.
I have felt sort of zonked the next day each time I have tried it. It is so hard to tell what is causing what.
Are you zonked out the next day? I am already fatigued everyday.
I also take Ativan to sleep, but that isn't cutting it anymore.
Thanks, Kathy

I was once given flexeril for sleeping, did not help me. But I am very tolerant to meds and take an array just to sleep 6 hrs.

I do not like flexeril. It does make me feel heavy and drugged the next day. I also feel so uncomfortable when my muscles feel like jello, that I can't sleep well sometimes because of it.

flexeril is related to elavil an old trycyclic antidepressant.
Its safe to be used long term, however I developed a tolerance.

I used to take it. I now take Trazodone instead.. a tricyclic antidepressant.

Lunesta works for sleep for me....

Flexeril made me too tired the next morning but its generic, cyclobenzaprine, (10mg) works better and now I take it with 3mg of lunesta and have gotten the best sleep ever! I had memory problems due to my lyme but without quality sleep I had really bad memory problems. Not anymore!

Flexeril made me too spaced out the next day.
Kind of sick feeling.
I take benadryl for sleeping.
One pill does me in.
Hugs,
Geneal

I took Flexeril for muscle pain. I always felt hung over in the morning. The longer I took it, the harder it was to wake up in the morning. I'd try one of the newer sleep meds before trying Flexeril for sleep.

Thanks for the responses. I have tried it twice now, and I just think it has too much of a next day effect.
I am still desperate to sleep better. I am on such a roller coaster with sleep.
Thanks for replyng. Think it is to be avoided.

As far as I'm concerned, Flexeril is one of the best meds ever created. It's benefits for MUSCLE PAIN are cumulative, and for me, were a lifesaver.
However, if you take it just to knock you out, there are other things out there that will work more effectively. Initially, it will knock you out like most meds will, but you'll build up a tolerance. Combining it with Ativan might be the reason for the 'hangover'.

I don't like flexeril. It did make me tired the
next day. For injury like a pulled back muscle it
can help but for sleep I wouldn't. I take an
occasional ambien which works good for me without
sides. My wife takes trazadone which works good
for her, but I hate it.

I felt too sluggish on flexeril. I like zanaflex much better.

Flexeril didn't work for me. Trazodone is really the only thing that puts me out. I've tried Xanax, Clonopin, Ambien, Rozerem and Lunesta. None works as well as Trazodone.
