Just wanted to let everyone here know that I

started the abx with no problems and no bad herx

as others have had on them, so far. I am on 875

mg of Amox. 3 x a day, and 500 mg of Biaxin 2 x

a day. The one thing that has happened is that

the first 2 days I had a pounding headache, and

some knee pain. I really haven't experienced

knee pain until now which is odd to me, but I

hear that is where most people feel the Lyme

arthritis. My mental fog seems to be improving,

which is a good sign. I just have some heart

burn. Wonder what can I take to get rid of that?

and does anyone experience this? How about the

knee pain? I feel it most in my right leg. Also,

I did order some probiotics from this website, and

wanted to share it with you. It offers free

shipping and costs a couple dollars less than

other sites.

Wishing you all well! Fran

Hi Fran--I think your knee pain is quite common

and you'll see that it may come and go, or you'll

get pain in your arm next and then your elbow

will act up--it just hits different parts of the

body in no particular order, it's that way for me

one day I have pain in my lumbar, then in some-

where else on the body--I do some motrin (anti-

inflammatory) or a heating pad helps me. It's

just part of lyme. I also had the heartburn like

you and my llmd prescribed the prescription form

of prilosec--it helped--the other one that really

helped alot was Pepcid Complete. Just chew one

and within 5 minutes--your better. Check with

your llmd before taking ANY otc anti-acids be-

cause you CANNOT take them with certain anti-

biotics!! But I also know that when I mentioned

my knee pain to my llmd he said that it was a

form of herxing after I started my anti-biotics

so I think you will become better, have less pain

the longer you are on the abx. Good luck!

I took a prescription for heartburn when I first started abx. It can be from yeast, but some abx just cause heartburn.

I have knee pain too. I didn't have it until I started abx. It comes and goes. Today it doesn't bother me at all. Tomorrow may be a different story. [confused]

Thanks for all your responses. I just thought it

was odd that I was getting knee pain. I noticed,

that it was a symptom of Lyme, but I honestly

never got the knee pain until treating the Lyme.

One other thing that is bothering me with the

ABX is the yucky metal taste in my mouth. What

do you recommend for that? My mouth is dry too,

and I've been drinking alot of water, also both

sides of my mouth are sore, like chapped. This

could be from the stomach acid. These are only

minor problems with the ABX and I do hope that

over time, this will be worth it! Thanks again! [group hug]

Definitely sounds to me like the meds are hitting something, for sure. Not at all uncommon to get the aches in the knee and else where as others described.

Regarding the metallic taste you may get used to it but when you see your LLMD you can ask to change to zithromax, instead. It doesn't give you that metallic taste.

It's always good to drink lots of water to help flush the system and aid in detox. Are you taking milk thistle? Drink as much water as you can and try to avoid juice and soft drinks, even diet ones. The diet ones are just as bad.

The stomach issues could be coming form the ABX in general and they may subside and it could even be yeast. Most of us had it long before we got on ABX. Sore by your mouth could be yeast, too. If you have any oil of oregano or grapefruit seed extract you can rub some of it on the sores on your mouth for a few days and see if it improves.

Try as best as you can to stay on a strict yeast free diet and when you see your LLMD again discuss a anti -fungal such as diflucan, if it continues.

Sounds as thou you are reacting appropriately and that's a good thing.
