I'm having such a hard time treating Lyme. I have fungal issues on antibiotics (horrible even on antifungals like diflucan and diet.)
But I also can't do natural because it irritates my Interstitial Cystitis and causes severe pain to the point where I'm crying and can't sleep.
My IC started a year before my Lyme, and went away a year afterwards, so I don't think the IC is a symptom of Lyme. Then it came back after a couple of supplements irritated it last year, now i can't do any supplements.
Does anyone have both of these diseases. How do deal with it? How do you treat?

Yes - I do and would do anything to have the answer for you... I am taking the following: - 2 - 500,000 nistatin tablets three times per day - Strict IC Diet - Bicillin shots - 1.2 MM twice per week (Mon and Wed) * EDTA - one per day * Bactrim DS - Twice per day - Since May 7th * Plaquenil - Once per day - Since 4/29 * Biaxin - Twice per day - Since 4/29
I am still very diet sensitive. My nurse practioner advised me not to take doxy and she was right. It greatly inflammed my bladder.
Have a visit with a LLMD in a couple of weeks. He treats aggressively... and I heard that he begins with IV Rocephin. My nurse practioner (R Kriz) said that many have experieced relief with Rocephin. But she cautioned me that my bladder is probably not ready for flagyl.
Both conditions seem to work against one another.
I really struggle with this and would like to know what antibiotics have helped others with their IC and Lyme.

ichelp - Thank you for your response. I can't believe you can take that many antibiotics without yeast or them bothering your ic. Most antibiotics irritate my bladder.
Do you know if Rocepthin is good at completely irradicating Lyme beter than antibiotics. I have read so many stories of people who took anitbiotics for years, got better, quit, then went into remission.

Our daughter has Bladder issues. Started last May , then diagnosed with Lyme June /08.
The urine frequency and urgency is better than it was last summer. Horrible urge , felt like had to go right after going, etc. Go every 5-10 ,minutes.
Now still goes frequently, but not as bad as last summer.
She is being treated for Lyme again and just started Bartonella treatment.
Every month the symptoms get worse and sometimes slight burning, then goes back to the usual frequency etc. Hopefully things will improve with this new treatment.
I hope you find some relief.

I used to follow the IC diet bigtime.. now, I don't have to.

Jane2904 - What is your daughter's treatment for Lyme and Bartonella?
You said they did bother her bladder initially and then the pain subsided? Is this based upon her menstrual cycle, new antibiotics etc?
ICleopbald - Antibiotics seem to help my IC. I was getting close to debilitated before taking them. I've heard my new LLMD utilizes IV Rocephin initially which I hope to try. I thought it was an antibiotic as well. My appt is at the end of the month.

I know IV Rocephin is a antibiotic, but I hope (maybe I'm wrong) that since it's not taken intestinally, but through the blood, that it won't go through my digestive system, thus avoiding vaginal yeast infections.

Ichelp73, She only has some burning. Seems to be before her menstrual cycle.
She has had this before and on antibiotics. She just started the antibiotics about a month ago.
