I started my Diflucan this morning. I am expecting a big die off.
However, the muscles in my neck seem tight (My legs got stiff while I took Nystatin).

Is it possible to have yeast in those muscles and this is whats been ailing me the past three months?

I'm afraid of an allergic reaction. As my other posts have stated .I took this stuff for about a week back in college-no problem.
Has anyone had anxiety panic attacks while on this?

Thanks
C

Yeast can cause A LOT of symptoms!!!!

I don't know about it causing anxiety attacks, but it's probably in the realm of possibility.

Hang in there... it may do you a world of good!!

Thank you Lymetoo.
My neck muscle tightness lasted about 45 min - its gone now. I had a panic attack with it and it definitely increased my sx.

I'm better now I do have some weird feelings in my legs, but I expect that.

c3mom do you have anything to help you through the anxiety or panic attacks?

One thing that helps me far better than prescriptions is a store-bought herbal medicinal tea. I use "Calming Tea" by Yogi Teas, but I am sure there are other brands that have similar ingredients.

The hot tea helps soothe my nerves in several ways - the act of sipping, the steam, the hot liquid, and then the medicinal effects of the herbs. It has helped me through many a panic and anxiety attack, and heart palps, tachy, seizures, and "neuro storms", as I call them.

Sorry I'm a bit off-topic, but I know how stressful it can be, and how difficult it is to get better when on edge from the Lyme etc.

I would call your pharmacist and ask about any symptoms you might experience while on your new med(s). They can be a huge help, even better than calling your doctor sometimes, because they have a lot of knowledge about drugs and side effects.

Good luck c3mom!

I wonder if it could be a herx reaction from the diflucan killing the lyme?!

I just started it today for a yeast infection. I was noticing that my neck was sore and stiff tonight too!!!

I am sorry that I do not have any experience or advice to share with you as I have not been on Diflucan (yet, anyway).

Did your LLMD prescribe Diflucan for suspected yeast or did you have confirmation from a stool test? Just wondering as I have a "trace; +1" amount in my Diagnos-Techs test and wonder if I shouldn't be on something too.

Hope you feel better!

It's a powerful drug that kills more than just candida species!

Coincidentally, I just saw this link:

Thanks for the link. I seriously want to give this drug a try. My next LLMD appointment is in two weeks and I just made myself a note to ask about it.

i'm going to try and convince my doc to give me a month of diflucan. i know he's resistant but hey, it's not like it's an antibotic. and it's much cheaper for me.

just have to think of how to approach him.

already have thrush for the second time.

and i bet a lot of my abdominal problems are yeast too.

Diflucan can hit Lyme also.

I don't know if it was yeast die off or a Lyme herx, but I had a notable reaction when starting diflucan.

I got sick shortly after taking it and felt awful for a few hours, then felt much better.

Each day, I felt less awful and for less time after taking it, and better afterward.

I've been on it ~3 weeks, and am interested to report this experience to my LLMD and get his take at my upcoming appt.

I am on Diflucan right now for thrush that went systemic after I was forced to take steroids to control a dangerous allergic reaction. Nystatin liquid failed to help.

I've had no herxing at all. In fact, my depression and anxiety have lifted, and I have a surge in energy, so I am thinking I've had yeastie beastie problems for a long time without knowing.

The only side-effect I've had is some wooziness right after I take my daily dose...kind of like being drunk.

However, I suspect I may be on a much smaller dose than the rest of you take, since my doc is not an LLMD. I am on 100 mgs. daily for 7 days.

How much are you all taking or have you taken in the past?

First of all thank you for the replies. The neck issue I think is due to low Mg. My neck got so bad that I was weezing when I breathed, but would subside when I layed down. The anxiety did not help the situation.

I take 200 mg a day. The first day made me feel so weird so I take it way early in the morning and sleep thru most of the effects. It has helped a lot.

I didn't have any burning till yesterday(6th day of tx) and I think it was because I did a ton of garlic and 2T Coconut oil. My lips looked like they were sun burnt!

I just started a round of diflucan 200 mg per day

about three weeks ago. Since then I feel like I

fell down a ski hill and haven't recovered. Sore

head to toe and my neck is my biggest complaint.

My sugars dropped initially but that subsided.

200 every day is a big dose. Usually for a

'typical' yeast infection, 150 mg one time is

adequate and every day, even in Lyme seems to me

like overkill BUT I do what the doc says as it

can creep back up so fast. I cut it to 150 a day

and it's better on my muscles and I know I am

adequately covered 'kill' wise with that dose.

Anxiety yes, as well with the diflucan. I do that

and have funny reactions on antibiotics/antivirals

/antifungals. Biaxin and Avelox were the worst,

but the diflucan does it as well. Just out of the blue.

Natural wise, I combat the anxiety with Kava Kava

(500-1000 mg - yes 1000) or Twin Labs Gaba Plus. You can take up to 5-6 of them (natural neurontin is how I describe that one)

There's lots of things out there if you don't

have benzos or prefer not to take them. If you DO

need a benzodiazepine prescription for

generalized anxiety, clonazepam is the best and

it keeps you on an even keel if SCHEDULED every

eight hours, start with 0.5 and see how it does.

Ativan is another. Different people react

differently to benzos even though they are all in

the same class, ie Xanax gives me headaches and a

hangover, ativan does nothing, etc etc.... Trial
and error.

There's more natural stuff I am forgetting- oh

Cumanda which is the great killer of all Lyme and

co - it is a GREAT pain reliever and helps

anxiety. I am very sensitive to even herbal

antimicrobials and Cumanda I didn't herx bad or

get sick on, I can take it strictly for aches and

pains/ anxiety and four drops is good to start.

Best of luck
Mag and Calcium are also GREAT for anxiety, lots of Mag.
