My Plaquenil prescription bottle says to read the FDA's black box warning. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone because I can't find

anything about it on the internet.

Plaquenil can cause eye problems. You are supposed to get your eyes looked at before starting it and during treatment. Maybe Google eye, plaquenil.

I knew that, but it's weird that I can't find the text of the black box warning. Plus, I can't be totally sure that's what the black box

warning is for.

The black box warning is:

Physicians should completely familiarize themselves with the complete contents of this leaflet before prescribing Hydroxychloroquine.

I found this on the sanofi-aventis website.

Just so you know, my llmd had me get a baseline eye/macular exam before starting plaquenil.

Both my LLMD and the eye doc have NEVER seen anyone have problems from the drug in their many years in practice.

But they both thought it was still a good idea for the baseline test.

My eye doctor saw one person who lost vision from Plaquenil. It was somebody who was on the medication for over 20 years and never had his eyes tested for it. Your want a visual fields test.
