How long have people been on Avelox for? and how are you doing now?
I have been on Avelox 500mg/day for 60 days so far. (in addition to Plaquenil and Tetra) I have been treated for 5 months total, the first 3 with other meds. I have seen quite a bit of improvement while on Avelox but am a tad worried about potential long-term damage. Any thoughts or experiences?

I didn't know anyone was using Avelox for Lyme.... or is it for bartonella??
It made my heart do "flip flops" and it's on my "allergic list" now. Didn't take it for Lyme.
I WOULD be worried about taking quinolones for any length of time.

It is for Bartonella. I am doing well on it but do not want to stay on it "too long". but trying to figure out what "too long" is.

I've only been on Avelox for about 10days now. I was pulsing Factive(same class as Avelox) 5days on 5days off for the past month but felt so bad on the off days that my doc decided to try it everyday.
Unfortunately neither Factive or Avelox are preferred by my insurance company so they limit what I can get. With this said, I don't know how long i'll be on Avelox either.
It is in the same class as Levaquin and from reading past posts it looks like others have benefited from taking it for a several months at a time.
We all respond so differently to each medication, we all have different combinations of coinfections and prexisting conditions that it is hard to predict what would be best for one another.
If Avelox is working for you, stick with it. When you are no longer seeing improvement maybe then it is time to stop or switch to another med.
