My brother was just diagnosed with Lyme disease and is awaiting coinfection results. He just started ATB last week but called to tell me that for the last few days he breaks out in a rash right after his shower....Luckily it goes away...any advice or explanation??? thanks, Crisann

Maybe a reaction to the abx? Can he take a photo and show it to his doctor next time he has an appointment?
Also, a lot of weird skin things appeared on me once I started abx. I attribute some to Babesia and Bartonella.
A person who lives down the street from us didn't develop the classic bull's eye rash until he had been on abx for a few days. The meds must have brought it out.
All the best,
Leelee

Where is his rash? I've noticed I sometimes get a blotchy looking rash on my toes after a hot shower. Don't know what it is though. Someone said that their dr said it was Babesia die off... but who knows...

I always get a weird blotchy rash on my chest and stomach when I'm hot or very nervous about something.
But that's the only time it will come out.
Don't have a clue what it is.

Taking hot showers with a rash will make a rash appear to be worse, it has happened to me... I had a rash that I thought was gone but whenever I would take a hot shower, it would come right back. Weird.

I am having something similar. I started taking Levaquin for Bart/Lyme and after my shower in the morning my face was blotchy red with a very fine-grained rash, which was not noticeable several hours later. Over the course of a week it spread all the way out to my ears. I called my doctor and he had me quit taking the Levaquin. It took about a week for my face to look normal after a shower. I was concurrently taking herbs- Cat's Claw and Artemesinin, so maybe there was a drug interaction? I'm not sure. That was many weeks ago, and today I noticed a similar redness around my nose and blotchy cheeks after shower, although I am currently on Cat's Claw and Dr. Z's herbs, no ABX.
I want to try Rifampin next, so my question is, how do you figure out if this rashy/redness is an allergic reaction to the ABX? I have read some indications that Rifampin and Artemesinin are not good to combine.
