I read that when people had Syphilis, they treated it with Penicillin. Why don't we do this with Lyme? They are both spirochetes right? Can you use them together? Has anyone tried this? I heard that someone had success with this.
Has anyone here tried it, is there a reason why it doesn't work and docs don't rx it? Am I missing something?

Hi Nessa-
I believe bicillin (which is a type of penicillin) which is used to treat lyme is also used to treat syphillis. Bicillin is an intramuscular injection. I did these shots for many months and didn't have particular great results but they might have helped somewhat.
If you do a search there are probably many threads discussing bicillin and some people have benefited greatly from the shots.

Bicillin is used alot by llmds to treat lyme. I used it for many months and it worked great for physical symptoms of lyme.
However, my doctor said that it does not cross the blood brain barrier, so might not be the best solution for neuro-lyme. Bicillin in combination with something that does cross the bbb, like biaxin, might be a very good thing.

Is there a book about this, or a sticky, or something, following some llmd's guidelines out there? Some frame of reference? Bicillin doesn't have a pill form?

Amoxicillin is a penicillin. My Dr is switching me from Doxy to Amoxy at the end of the month just to switch things up. I think others on here have been on amoxy too.
I'll still be taking Zithro and Artiminisin as well.
