Been on Bicillin for about 1.5 years and nurse suggested we try the thigh ............... OMG that hurt. I did live though .............. I dunno I might try it again.
Anyone else have experience with this?

For me, the least painful place to give the shot is in butt muscles over more twords your hip.

That is where you now get rabies shots if you are exposed.
One in both thighs.. and one in both arms the first time they hit you. And the second time too.
The third time they cut one out and lower the number of shots you get each time you get them.
I remember them well... slow... very slow... and painful.
OUCH is right!
You must feel like a pin cushion!
So sorry dear!
Remember when I told you to let me know if there was anything I could do for you?
Well, it's true.
I'd take a bullet for you.
I'd lay on the railroad tracks when the train is coming so you don't have to.
I'd climb a mountain full of green briars and poison ivy for you in 100 degree heat.
But...
Ask if I'll take those shots for you and I'll act like we never met!
Might ice or those numbing things help?
NO, not tequilla on ice.. those OTHER numbing things they use.
Wish I had a better answer for you.... I really do!

What about adding in some procaine or lidocaine? It isnt nearly painful that way.

My doc prescribed Emla cream, rub on i hr prior to shot. Hardly felt a thing, but also had a very good shot giver.

The thigh muscle is not big enough to accommodate the Bicillin injection. Not very wise of your nurse to suggest that.
The manufacturer even recommends only using the dorso or ventro gluteal muscle sites.
If you are sick of the "butt"(dorsogluteal) shots try the "hip" (ventroglueal) site next time.
Take care!

Has Bicillin helped you??? Are the injections better than the oral drugs?

Thanks for the replies and suggestions ............. The nurse is very skilled actually. 30 + years in nursing and also has taught otjer nurses. I do not believe the thigh is a common site but one that can be used when necessary. I have been alternating between vento and dorso for this whole 1.5 years.
ruggie .... yes it has helped .................. still not a cure. I would recommed trying it if you haven't. I had many abx before starting bicillin. I would be sure your load is down before starting. It can be a heavy hitter.
